Ask the Community

I wanted to share an important lesson for all sellers, especially new ones. There will be buyers who approach you, claiming they have “many projects” and asking for a free sample to assess your skills. 

 Don’t fall for the promise of future work in exchange for free labor. If a buyer is serious about hiring you, they will trust your portfolio, reviews, or a paid test to evaluate your abilities. 

Offering free samples not only undervalues your time but also sets a precedent for the buyer to exploit your efforts. Respect your work, and others will respect it too. 

Here’s how I recently handled a similar situation:
 A buyer asked for a free sample for a “long-term project.” I politely declined, stating that my time is limited, and directed them to new sellers who might be interested. If someone can’t invest in a small paid task, they probably won’t value you in the long term. 

Stay professional, trust in your skills, and don’t compromise your worth.
