Hi my name is Megan. I just started fiverr a few weeks ago and posted my first gig. I shared it around social media,  but haven't had any luck getting buyers due to being a newbie.

I know it takes time for buyers to find newbies amongst other poetry services, but I'd love to get a few first customers sometime.

I could use some sagely wisdom please?

Should I edit what I offer in my custom poems or make a video to explain what I offer for poems?

Well Megan, I think you should have some patience and meanwhile try to publish your gig outside on social media and even in your real network, then this first order is just a click away. and be online on fiverr as much as you can.

by the way your service is interesting

This has nothing to do with being a "newbie". Using social media very rarely leads to an order.

Your account is a year old and you have very few orders. You should have known by now that staying online is not going to help you. It is a 100% waste of time.

Publish my gig outside of social media? You mean out in the real world? What places would be good to publush such a gig even for a beginner as myself?

Also by being online fiverr as much as I can does that mean opening fiverr once in awhile to show i am online even though I'm logged in?

Also thank you. I carefully thought about what to write in my description, did some editing especially on prices and looked back on a few of my poems to see how many lines I can do. I also did a little research too to help me while I was putting my first gig together.

I read about that one on staying online is false from one of the topics here on the forum during the slow down time. And yeah I did post around on social media even in the facebook freelancing groups.

Yes, I agree with you that being online won't help you rank directly, but what if a buyer contacts you an you are away for hours, that means that he well probably look for another and here you lose your order

There was this ONE message I got from a suppose buyer, but it was suspicious. I had to report it to fiverr because the 'buyer' provided a link and some password code. I did a search on it, found out it might've been a scam and reported that person to fiverr and deleted the message.

Also I would contact the buyer when I get a notification regarding the contact, if I take long I will be sure to reply back to ensure the buyer that I will get back to them shortly if I am a little tied up.

Staying online continuously is pointless and hardly yields anything. Use the app and spend your time doing useful things.

Remember that many buyers who want immediate help from someone online at the time are the most dangerous buyers. These buyers are usually demanding and want a very low price because they know that many online sellers are desperate for a (first) order.

Sellers who have fallen into that trap then return to the forum with their (horror) stories. I avoid these types of buyers because getting into trouble is guaranteed. If a buyer cannot wait a few hours until I answer his message, then he can search for another victim, it’s not going to be me.

Well, I offer custom poems at a reasonable price. I got some advice from a fellow writing community regarding what kind of prices poems go for depending on the lines and what each package offers depending on what the buyer is looking for. I had to do some editing on the pricing, packaging for each level and other areas including lines.

My prices aren't that low, but I think reasonable and affordable for anyone to purchase. Also I'll be sure to install the fiverr app on my phone in case. 🙂

I wasn't online all that time, as I was full-time software developer in a company, but recently I quit and chosen to focus on freelancing here on Fiverr then I realized that being online(not specifically on the platform) let you respond to anyone who needs you in a reasonable timing. but I have to repeat that being online doesn't directly increase the ranking.

Okay? Well, anyway I just hope I'll drum up business sooner or later. I know its a waiting game, but it sure is quite the waiting game after a few weeks. I mean I got a flexible schedule-I also will check during break time or slow down time at work. That was the tricky part when doing the gig application-the times available because its hard to pin point on stuff, but I did set a cut off at around 10:30 or 10pm because I relax in the evening and I do some writing/reading during that time.

Being online 24 hours does not guarantee getting orders, just pray and get a luck
