Unless the platform(social media) is related to your service, it is not only pointless to advertise on social media, it "could" be troubling for the Gig ranking. Because you will be getting a lot of impressions(junk) and no order!

Of course, targetted and strategic advertising on social media could bring in some buyers to your gig. But this has to be planned and targetted.....

I think, another good option is to setup a 'honey pot' in the form of website, from where you will redirect your potential clients to your Gig.... 😉
