Hi everyone, just wanted to share a small win that I have officially been promoted to Top Rated Seller.

5 genuine cancellations (not counting the direct orders that were cancelled instantly when I did not have the “Request to Order” (RTO) toggle on.

Overall cancellation rate to a solid 0.73% (again, excluding cases where orders were cancelled immediately without any work involved and later metrics restored by Customer Support).

Repeat Business Score: Always above 85 (currently at 94).

It’s honestly a great feeling but this journey was not quick or easy. There were dry months, sleepless nights, and a few tough clients, but every bit of that taught me something valuable. So instead of just celebrating, I wanted to give back to the community and share some of the core things I have personally followed over the years that helped me grow (slowly but surely).

I genuinely believe this is the most important skill, after your gigs are solid. I always made sure to:

Guide the buyer patiently, especially when they were confused or even a bit rude.

No one-liner responses (ever). I always took the time to write clear and thoughtful messages and make the buyer feel that I genuinely care about their project -- not just trying to make a sale.

And trust me, buyers can feel the difference when you go the extra mile in how you communicate.

Sent regular order updates (even if it was just a quick check-in)

No matter how long the delivery timeline was (5 days, 14 days or more, I made it a habit to send a small update every 2–3 days (sometimes even daily if needed). Even when progress was slow, I would still message the buyer explaining the reason and when they can expect the next update.

That little act of transparency alone builds so much trust. It avoids last-minute panic or unnecessary cancellations. Buyers just want to feel involved and know that things are moving. And that applies across the whole journey, from pre-order discussions to post-delivery follow-ups, so I always kept things transparent and clear.

I never rushed delivery just to beat the timer. If I felt the work wasn’t 100% ready, I simply reached out to the client, explained the situation politely and asked for a small delivery extension. And guess what? 9 out of 10 buyers were absolutely fine with it. Because when your communication is strong, people trust you. And trust buys you time.

Treated revisions like an opportunity, not a problem

Revisions? They are not a punishment. They are just “normal” part of the process. In fact, I used revisions as a chance to show that I care about the final result just as much as the buyer does. I also learned over time how to ask better questions upfront, which naturally reduced the number of revisions. Clear input = clear output.

And even when buyers requested something outside the scope, I would politely explain the extra effort and offer an additional quote -- professionally (never emotionally).

Asked happy clients for honest reviews (politely)

After delivery, I did not push or pressure. But I did follow up with a generic message like: “… feel free to leave a quick honest review and your honest feedback helps me a lot and lets future buyers know what to expect.”

When an order went sideways or communication broke down, I did not just move on. I literally have a dedicated section on my Trello board where I log every cancellation or difficult experience -- to learn from it. I always include things like:

What system or process can I put in place to prevent this in the future?

That self-audit routine ended up being one of the most valuable learning tools in my journey. And honestly, that’s a big reason why I have only 5 genuine cancellations so far (not counting clients who changed their mind right after ordering).

That’s it. There’s no secret. No tricks. Just consistency, professionalism and real effort behind every order. To anyone still on the grind: keep at it. If you care deeply about your work and keep showing up, the system notices and your buyers notice too.
