I've been thinking about the origins of Fiverr and how it was built on the concept of offering services starting at $5—which, at the time, made sense and was a unique selling point. In fact, the name "Fiverr" itself seems to come from that idea. 💡 

But in 2025, with global inflation and the rising cost of living, $5 doesn’t hold the same value it once did. Yet, many buyers and new sellers still view Fiverr as a “$5 marketplace”, expecting quality services for a very low price. I believe this mindset might be one of the reasons Fiverr Pro and Seller Plus were introduced—to highlight higher-quality services and professional talent. 

That said, Fiverr can't just raise the minimum gig price, because part of what attracts new users is the accessibility and affordability. But if $5 keeps losing value over time, how sustainable is it for new sellers, especially in high-skill categories? 

Is the $5 gig culture still relevant today? 

Should Fiverr adjust its model to reflect economic changes?
