I placed an order with the seller on 9th January for a fully custom website (web app) development (advanced booking platform). We divided the project into two parts (Backend, Frontend). I paid for the first part and the deadline for this part was 30th January. Seller initially promised daily updates and meetings, but so far, it's been 18 days and we've only had one meeting. The seller fails to provide updates and when he does, the updates are incomplete or unprofessionaly structured. Besides not providing updates, he's now asking for 10 days extension which would take the delivery date to 9th Feb. The reason he provides for this delay is "I got sick" and "these things take time". I don't know what to do. It has already been 18 days and I'm in a bad position. If the seller really means that "these things take time" then he should've clearly mentioned it before I placed the order. 

10 day extension is pretty big and considering $600 are on the line (for the first part) and once it's completed, we move on to the front end. 

He says projects on fiverr usually go past deadline and it's not big issue. Can anyone help me and give their advice if that's really the case? 

Btw The website is actually very advanced with a lot of complex features, don't know if projects like this actually go that far beyond the agreed delivery dates? I will really appreciate the help.
