Webinar recap: Grow your business with Fiverr’s Personal Assistant
I've been on Fiverr for nearly ten years now as a website designer, and in that time, I've watched the platform change a lot. The newest change that's got everyone talking is the  Personal Assistant  — Fiverr's AI that can reply to clients for you.
So, I put together a  one-hour live webinar  to walk freelancers through how to actually get it working for their business, without losing their voice or their control. Here's the short version of what I covered.

What the Personal Assistant can and can’t do

The Personal Assistant is brilliant at replying to clients instantly, day or night. It protects your  response rate  while you sleep, qualifies leads, gathers project details, and handles the FAQs you answer a hundred times a week.
What it can't do is replace you.
During the session, I showed it working live on my own account, because I think seeing it beats hearing about it. The thing I really wanted people to take away is that it isn't there to close deals in an hour.
In my case, a website is a considered purchase, and most clients want a call first. The assistant's job is to qualify and warm the lead, keep it from going cold, then hand it over to me for the human touch. That's by design, and it works.
Switch it on expecting a robot to run your business, and you'll be disappointed. Treat it as a support tool, and it's a genuine asset.

Training your AI

The real work is in the training. Three things that make it sound like you rather than a generic bot:
  • Tone: Feed it real examples of how you actually speak to clients.
  • Workflow: Tell it what to ask, in what order, and when to hand it back to you.
  • Boundary rules: Set limits that protect your account, such as no discounts beyond a certain point, no off-platform contact, and no promises of deadlines.
As you train it, also think through how you want it to handle the tricky client scenarios we all know too well. For discount requests, you can train it to hold your value and offer alternatives instead of undercutting you. For vague inquiries, it can ask the right questions upfront to qualify the lead. For tight deadlines, it can check feasibility before anything gets promised. And for off-platform requests, it can politely redirect the conversation back to Fiverr where it belongs.
Get those things right, and it starts to sound like a member of your team. Get them wrong, and the issues can quickly snowball. Common pitfalls to avoid:
  • Switching it on before it's trained, which ends up making it sound generic.
  • Setting no boundary rules, so it starts offering discounts.
  • Letting it close complex orders without you in the loop.
  • Never reviewing the conversations it has.
  • Not updating it as your services change, so it falls out of sync with your business.
The great news is that every one of these is avoidable, and avoiding them is mostly a matter of slowing down and taking the time to properly train.

Put it into practice

To finish off the webinar, we went over all the practical things you can do today if you’re ready to get started:
  • Start in "Request to Order" mode ( a  Seller Plus  exclusive feature)
  • Feed it your ten most common questions first
  • Write your boundary rules before you go live
  • Test it as if you were a client, then tweak.
  • Review it weekly to refine the tone
The Personal Assistant is a support tool, not a replacement. Train it properly, test it, tweak it, and you stay in control the whole way through. It's freeing up my time, and it's bringing in work, and honestly, if you don't try it, you'll never know. I encourage all freelancers to give it a go.
