  1. Your profile says Vietnamese so your clients know where you are from. They already know. I don’t see why US citizens submitting a tax form would affect anything.
  2. I read that a company can only submit 250 1099’s electronically. I’m sure that will create a lot of mailings for fiverr. How is fiverr going to send the IRS a million 1099’s?
  3. That means you agree you don’t live in the U.S. It’s a little confusing because if you are a U.S. citizen living outside the U.S. you still pay U.S. taxes (I think).
  4. In the future if you ever do earn that much you will have to fill it out. You are a US citizen. You should get a social security number also.
  5. Then you don’t need to worry about it. btw Washington dc hospital is in Washington D.C. not California.
  6. Have you earned at least $20,000 this year or by the end of this year?
  7. You can always see the form you filled out when you go to your account. You can make changes to it there also.
  8. It says you completed the form in the same place you completed the form. You click the next button and see that message.
  9. I’m sure it is required. Whatever address you use to pay your taxes from would be the one to use. It is required if you made over $20,000 and had at least 200 orders.
  10. You could try putting a 0 on that second address line maybe. You can then later go edit it out.
  11. Yes I have that too. …It’s a message that stays there even if you have it filled out.
  12. Did you put in your social security number? And check the part that asks if you are a individual, etc? When I clicked the next button it said I completed it.
  13. The W9 form is just for US sellers. It’s hardly a celebration to have to fill out a tax form. I think you misunderstand. Be thankful you don’t have to fill it out.
  14. On the W9 it asks if you are a corporation or not. They can get 1099’s.
  15. A few years ago the IRS decided anyone who pays anyone anything should have them fill out a W9 creating an impossible sunami of paperwork for everyone in the country especially the IRS. So hopefully they recently revised that awful rule. Before if you paid someone $10 you would be required to make them fill out that form.
  16. That’s the first I’ve seen that. It must be in the newest IRS rules.
  17. I didn’t see that but it has nothing to do with the requirement for the w9. In the US anyone who pays someone is supposed to have them fill out a w9 so they can be sent a 1099 at the end of the year/start of next year.
  18. I see that there is a place on the W9 to indicate if you are an LLC, sole proprietor, corporation etc. Anyone who earned money on fiverr in the US will get a W9 to fill out. It makes no difference how many orders you have. This is to let the IRS know you earned money on fiverr, regardless of your business entity type.
  19. She only needs to know if she is in the US or not. I’m sure she can figure that out. Even if she was in the US which she is not she doesn’t need a tax advisor to tell her how to fill out the W9. It asks for name address and SS number.
  20. To anyone reading this who has a fake US seller account, don’t fill in the W9 form as if you are in the US. If you try to fake that you are going to be in trouble. It’s very easy to see if you use a fake SS number. That is easily verified online by anyone. You should notify customer support of your real country. Fiverr will be notified if you submit an incorrect W9. w91212×754 110 KB
  21. It is only for US citizens. No need to worry about it. It is our tax laws in action. Our government wants to make sure we are paying our taxes. Fiverr will be sending in how much we earn to our tax department. For U.S. sellers: In case you are new to this, you will be seeing a 1099 form at the start of next year on fiverr in your account. It will be necessary to print that or make a digital copy if you e-file your taxes and include it with your tax return.
  22. I think you got it right. Or possibly a change in IRS rules too.
