I'm currently in a gig with a buyer, who requested that I write a recap of a movie. I've written it, but I've sent him a Google Drive link to a rough draft so that he could look it over, so he could suggest any changes before I sent it. (In hindsight, this was probably a stupid decision.) But now, he's saying that he doesn't approve of it, and isn't clear in telling me what's wrong with it. He says I have to rewrite it completely, because it's like "a bad haircut", and "trying to fix it would make it worse."
Even though the gig says I could do it in ten days, we agreed to five days, because it was supposed to be a short write-up. I turned it in two days ago, so I have three days left. The buyer says I either rewrite it, or cancel. But I'm worried he'd just use the rough draft and he just doesn't pay me.
I don't think I can do the whole thing over again, without even knowing what I did wrong. I'd prefer to cancel, but then he wins if this actually is a scam. I've just set the Google Doc page to private, but I don't know if he's already copied it. I've considered sending the to him anyway, but then he'd just write me a negative review, which is going to stay on my account longer than if I just cancelled it. Which will hurt, because I haven't gotten much business or ratings.
Is there anything I can do besides cancel?
And please keep the "You shouldn't have sent the draft" to a minimum.
