  1. Indeed - but it is where the air of entitlement from some sellers is coming from, along with the mistaken belief that GPT is fine to use everywhere and that it is people who are criticising it who are the meanies who need to be more "kind".

These type of stories usually don't end well for anyone. Or, as my mother liked to say a lot when I was young, "cruel to be kind" with the unspoken cruelty of kindness when unwarranted.

I really don’t think we’re helping the poor, weak, and underprivileged by giving them a crutch and telling them, "Here you go, use this, and you never have to think for yourself again."

Can someone send this memo to Fiverr?

  3. Really? I thought it was banned longer ago, but I am British... (1999, according to Google).

But yeah, agreed about the future poison stuff - the skin is the largest organ in the body, and while it's waterproof (or resistant, if you prefer), it isn't everything-proof. The big deal at the moment seems to be microplastics though. Apparently there was a study not too long ago where researchers took blood samples (or something like that) out of a whole bunch of people including pregnant women with unborn babies. Anyway, upshot of it was everyone had microplastics, including the babies, who were getting their plastic via the placenta.

AFAIK nobody knows just how bad this really is, other than it's probably bad.

  4. But you've learned a fun makeup fact to share with the world!

Other fun makeup facts include early makeup killing women because of stuff like mercury in the ingredients. Then there's the Chinese tiny feet shoes. Makeup! Once you get past the boring industry full of gorgeous but boring people, there's a world pain, horror, and death lying in wait.

IIRC, Queen Elizabeth I died because of her makeup. Ah yes, here you go. I could have asked ChatGPT, but sometimes you just want a museum's snappy take on things:

  5. Why should I be more gentle and understanding? People are using AI to defraud buyers on this platform and Fiverr is allowing it. Are you OK with that? Because it seems to me you haven't read any of my posts, just done a quick glance to see the keyword AI and gone "aha!" just as I scan most posts from people to check for GPT before I decide to engage.

You are currently posting ChatGPT content on the forum complaining about the fact that Fiverr caught you with two accounts and that it should change its policies to suit people like you. Essentially. Let's be honest here.

I speak more than one language too - I live abroad. What's the privilege? I see a lot of hard work and learning. No, the real privilege is having a tool that you (general you) can use to communicate without having to learn all of the words, concepts, and ideas of the other language and thinking you can just make money using the tool. Why read the rules? You speak English now. You have ChatGPT, and now you can have a machine speak for you.

Your argument is not good. My problem, as I told a Fiverr staff member who told me I was being "negative" about AI yesterday, is that people are abusing it. AI is just a tool. As my rents have always pointed out.

  6. Nah, it's just bad copypasta. ChatGPT clearly said a lot more than was posted there, but our expart friend probably snipped off the stuff that didn't look expart enough. Also, ChatGPT summaries are longer than that. They could be shorter, but ChatGPT doesn't like short.

  7. Fiverr does everything in the backend with USD, the other currency options are just there to make it easier to understand the price in your own currency. It's visual.  You don't need to use USD for the visuals, but obviously, miscommunications and misunderstandings are going to happen if you don't specify for the buyer.

Personally, I think it's just easier to work in USD. Sellers typically work in USD because that's the platform currency.

Asking questions holds immense power as it fuels curiosity, stimulates critical thinking, fosters learning and understanding, and often leads to innovative solutions and insights. It's the gateway to exploration and discovery. It goes far beyond exchanging information. Summary. Asking questions is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning tool.

Why do you use ChatGPT to write everything you post?

I'm feeling curiosity which has stimulated my critical thinking and fostered my desire to learn and understand, you see.

Additionally, as a Fiverr expert, why did you choose to spell Fiverr wrong? Was this an innovative solution and insight that my mind is missing? Are you aware that there are a group of scammers going around right now pretending to be Fiverr? What was it in your expert knowledge that made you decide to associate yourself with this august group?

I do agree that asking questions is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking stuff and an "it spurs learning tool". You know what I think is better? Teaching people that everybody knows they are doing a terrible job of copypasta and breaking the forum rules by posting AI content without notifying users that their thoughts are not their own.

  10. The seller is probably using USD, not CAD but neither of you is being clear on what $ you are using so confusion and miscommunication is winning. Fiverr will also take 5.5% plus a $2.50 small order fee off you if you accept, but that's nothing to do with the seller.

Sellers take note: always mention the actual currency you are quoting in, even if it is just USD....

Apparently, lots of people are on the shore of the neighboring island taking pictures, and if a powerful pyroclastic flow comes along,

Ah yes, pyroclastic flows - that's what happened to Pompeii and also what preserved it perfectly for modern-day tourists. People do like to gawp when natural disasters happen. A few years ago, there was a massive fire near where I live in the middle of summer. An entire mountain was on fire and my village had a cinematic view of it (it did look very impressive). The tourists where all snapping pictures, eating at restaurants, drinking at bars, and gawping at the spectacle. The business owners were working and looking with increasing panic over the fire, and we were trying to figure out whether to stay or go (we were a more refined class of dumb people). The fire did get put out eventually (and the wind was in our favor), but I've never forgotten how unconcerned the tourists were, nor the heat of the fire from a good few kilometers away over the summer heat.

Your harmonic thingies are, according to ChatGPT, dangerous because unlike the regular shudder of an earthquake, these are smooth, rhythmic, and continuous, with a "musical quality". Anyway, scientists like to watch these because they mean a volcano is going to do bad things.

I guess I need to try some extra income sources, because the only reason why I kept this low is because I had consistency.

Between Fiverr's AI madness and ongoing inability to protect freelancers from bad buyers, other income sources are increasingly a better option. Motivation's a tough one though. I find taking a break for a few days and not doing anything work-y helps to bring it back. Recharges the batteries, puts time and distance between you and whatever the demotivating thing was.

  12. (also, looking at the Indonesian story, it looks like it's "bad-but-manageable" for now, but will be really bad if the mountain collapses into the sea?)

  13. I can't find the review. Is that "we hide your worst review for X time" thing still in place? Anyway, D, put your prices up. $10 is just asking for these clients. It's not going to hurt you *at all* to put them up. Less work, more money, and more importantly, less people like this buyer.

  15. So does GPT! Ask it to write something, then use the clipboard and copy it somewhere. The markdown doesn't convert. If you just copy and paste with your mouse, the markdown does appear, but you get that giveaway black text.

  17. Nope, this is vanilla GPT 4. There's the old "picture this:" among other things.

I really enjoyed the desperation in the benefit of socks being a conversation starter though.

  19. Just think, unlike poor Donnovan, you can skip all the boring bits!

EDIT: The "AI isn't bad for SEO" myth-busting she did has aged like milk, she doesn't appear to be on Fiverr anymore - why is anyone's guess, but she's not advertising herself anywhere as a Fiverr seller and appears to have gone all-out into the AI influencer world, making her money by telling everyone how they can make money with AI if they etc etc.

I wonder what happened to her Fiverr? Perhaps it turned out to be a bad career move on here to be a writer openly using AI on a platform where AI deception makes you a millionaire?

  20. I'm having problems finding her Fiverr profile. It seems there is a "Corrie" who is the #1 writer when you Google her name, but clicking that link just took me to my dashboard. There was a tantalizing taste of the prices, though: $1,000....
