There are so many rural villages in Sri Lanka, where people don't even who the president is. Not everyone has the same level of education or understanding of politics. As I see it, many are helpless and hopeless. They are blinded by the desire to fulfil the needs and wants in life that they struggle to find every day. They settle for less, they fall for lies, and these vulnerable people can't see what difference a simple vote would make. That is also limited, sometimes we stay in a que for many hours and return empty handed as the fuel ran out. So, generators, not an option. You are 100% correct. It's a mess, and we can't predict what will happen next. Even the foreign countries have declined Sri Lankan work and student visas due to the massive debts.

May be we can use it to buy more services. I searched a little about that promotion and it says when you spend $40, you get $10 back. I don't know much about it.
