  1. The cool thing about Fiverr is that I tend to get orders when I'm SLEEPING! It's true! I received one a few days ago and I responded to the Buyer a couple of hours after I had my breakfast...and I still GOT THE JOB! Don't believe anyone who tells you that you need to be active 24/7/365. It's bunk.

  2. Hmmm. Hobbies. In random order (this week, because they do change as I get bored with them and try something else until I get bored again) photography (sometimes macro, sometimes not), writing (duh - no-brainer since I'm a content writer. I've self-published 17 titles, mostly how-to stuff), I walk, lift weights and climb stairs like a madman (these three are part of my recovery plan as I continue to fight congestive heart failure), road trips, window shopping (mostly because I'm a starving writer I can't afford the stuff I want), reading, hanging out (not loitering, but darned close), sleeping, going to church, you know, all the usual stuff normal people do. I also volunteer, which I take seriously and I am an elected member of my community's Town Council (second 4-year term) I also take this seriously as I believe it is important to give back to your community.

  3. I feel your pain.

I've been here for several years (completed almost 900 orders) and had a recent buyer place two orders with me by accident, who then promptly cancelled them. That destroyed my 100% completion rate and took my Level Two to Level One. This past month, due to no new orders, I became a New Seller.

The upside is that I did communicate this to the buyer, mostly to just encourage him to be more careful with his ordering as it does impact Sellers. He went after CS and as of the other day, my completion rate suddenly returned to the 100% it has been at for years.

I get why the system is the way it is. Sadly, it also isn't perfect.

  4. I had a regular off-platform client of mine I've been working with for years before I joined Fiverr recently request I run a series of FAQs (intended for several of his websites) through ChatGPT and tweak where necessary. Well, I ended up rewriting EACH OF THE RESPONSES to the questions I fed into the AI program. Granted, that was just three months after ChatGPT was launched. I would imagine things are better if it is actually doing the "deep learning" we've been promised.

I also had a non-client suggest that AI would kill my business. There has been a dip in work, but I am still writing almost daily.

I also suspect we will see Google penalties coming out eventually on content that is strictly AI-generated and I have seen mention of such restrictions already in place in several online platforms.

  5. So, since I've now been bumped down to New Seller status I've cancelled my Seller Plus subscription for now. I won't lie about it, but this is a tad frustrating that all of this has happened due to a buyer sending me two orders by accident then cancelling them almost immediately. I have been in contact with the buyer who has been helpful and in contact with customer service.

It's okay. I'll get over it. It'll just take a little more time to rebuild here than I planned on. It is what it is.

On the upside, it is Friday.

  6. I have two regular clients. One I've worked with over several years and another I've worked with for just a few months.

While I like the "regular" business, I also enjoy the "one-offs" that happen here. Because this is a global platform, it's easy to end up working for someone halfway around the world.

In my regular freelance web content writing life (I started outside of Fiverr in 2014), I have mostly clients from Australia. I'm in Canada.

    I still think that's cool.

  7. I've been a Fiverr Seller for several years. I've only come back in the past year to concentrate on rebuilding my freelance business here. I had some health issues that took me away for a period of time. I have completed almost 900 orders here in the time I've been a member. I just joined Seller Plus thinking it could help kickstart my freelance business.

I've rebuilt six of my gigs, used the keyword tool and other tips to try to maximize what I'm doing here. Sadly, a month before I signed up for Seller Plus a buyer ordered two orders from me, but apparently did so by mistake and cancelled them on me. That bumped me down to a Level 1 Seller. I understand this happens, but I feel I'm getting penalized for a mistake I had nothing to do with. But that's beside the point.

Is Seller Plus a good tool? Does it help someone further their freelance career?

I'm sort of kicking tires here to see if I'm heading in the right direction. I don't expect to be flooded with orders in a week or two, but has it made any difference for anyone here?

    Thanks!

@looseink I haven’t seen you writing “thank you” notes or messages asking to pray for you on forum topics yet 😉

    Too funny.

Not my style, but I do thank God daily for my business success.

  9. Just to fan the flames a little...

    I disagree.

I would not be here had God not directed me to Fiverr as a means to earn extra money.

Nor would I be in business had God not shown me that I had skills I could turn into a career.

    But, yah...I get your point.

  10. The best advice I've received since becoming a freelancer?

    Nothing.

I sort of "lone wolfed" my way through this career change plotting my own path.

Do I know everything there is to know about freelancing?

Of course not, but in the 7+ years I've been doing it I have made it a fun career.

    Could I do better?

Probably, but I like where I am now and only have myself to credit or blame.

  11. Your best bet is to explore what Sellers have used to describe their Gigs in the same Gig category as yourself.

In other words, check out what your competition is doing.

DO NOT COPY what they have in their Gig descriptions, but use those examples to inspire you to make yours better.

  12. You asked the question, what would I do in such a situation?

    Well, I've been there.

Clearly the Buyer did not read all they needed to read in your Gig details.

I wouldn't fret over it as it will likely happen again sometime.

You just have to expect freelancing to be great some days, not-so-great on others, and downright disappointing on a few more.

It's like that in any type of business.

Carry on, and move forward - which is what I've done in the same situation.

  13. Number One: Your education should come first...no exceptions.

Number Two: Explain in your Gigs that you are a full-time student working freelance as a side hustle (which would be true).

Number Three: Limit the number of orders in your queue.

Number Four: If that doesn't slow things down and you have difficulty juggling both school and Fiverr, take a break from Fiverr.

Number Five: Your education should come first...no exceptions.

  14. Neither now.

But I did have a cat that lived to the ripe old age of 19.

She was strictly an indoor cat.

My girlfriend, who eventually became my wife, had three dogs when we got together so with my cat we used to joke that we had a blended family.

The dogs were two Australian Shepherd/Border Collie crosses (females, sisters), and a male Dalmatian.

All four of the pets are now long gone.

We do not have children and may never get another pet as losing them was hard on both of us.

  15. I was asked for a private review after making a purchase several months ago following the public review I left.

I think the private reviews are intended for Fiverr to monitor how things are going.

As matter-of-fact as I am on the Forum, I am far more forgiving in my public reviews.

    I don't think I've given anyone less than 4-Stars and usually 5-Stars.

I'll leave a comment, as well.

If it happens to be a job I wasn't pleased with I just don't order from that Seller again.

  16. I think a Seller Membership Fee has to be high enough to screen out some of the newbies who currently sign up for free to make a fast buck.

I also think there has to be a screening process that further weeds out Sellers who should not be on this platform, or maybe create a Fiverr Lite for them where BRs are the only source of income and the rest of us who pay a Membership Fee gain access to Buyers not using BRs.

There has to be a way to separate the cream from the rest of the barrel.
