Amazing watching so many argue against transparency and accountability.  Absolutely amazing. This only affects people who get their orders cancelled.

I think this is really unfair to be honest. I rarely cancel orders but sometimes you have to, as someone else said, to stay sane. We've all had vindictive buyers who would absolutely leave a bad review for trivial reasons after cancellations. Ive cancelled orders for buyers because they were insulting me or making unfair demands. It's realistic to expect that this means we will have zero recourse for this now.

  2. Just caught up on this thread for the first time and wow, the hostility some people have towards sellers, like we are all waiting in the shadows to rip them off, is incredible. I think y'all think we are taking away a much bigger profit from this platform than we actually are 😂

  3. I don't like this. It's spam. I totally understand sellers wanting a leg up, but this feels gross and annoying to me. Most people don't like receiving unsolicited junkmail. I guess I'd be ok with it if there was an obvious way for buyers to opt out, so hopefully if they keep it they'll at least implement that.

  4. It's my birthday this weekend!! I'm off to Manchester to party for the first time since before the pandemic! Had the best month sales-wise I've had in almost 2 years last month, and a record number of sales the past 2 weeks - almost feels a shame to pause my gigs! Just kidding, can't wait to have 5 days off >:) As a nice birthday surprise, one of my favorite-ever clients came back last week and ordered a HUGE bulk order, so I made some unexpected spending money for this weekend! I'm living my best life right now, truly! Can't wait for a weekend full of greasy food and dancing ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️

Goodbye twenties! Good riddance, you really sucked.

When you enter a gray area and you're not really sure what to do, the best thing is to walk away.

You're absolutely right and that's what I've ended up doing. I guess I just wish the ToS was a little clearer or gave some more concrete examples. There are so many different kinds of gigs in Fiverr and I feel like some of them could be academic adjascent while still being done in good faith.

I'm not personally one to risk it but at any rate, it would be nice to have a clearer picture.

  6. I really don't understand based on this section of the ToS:

    Quote

First things first - as a seller, please always refrain from offering any academic work. Doing someone else’s academic work or homework, which is most likely to be submitted as the student’s own work, is unethical as it is a direct violation of most schools’ Honor Codes. Furthermore, it may constitute copyright infringement. Fiverr does not allow this, and other fraudulent activities, and it is not permitted on our platform. For more information visit Fiverr’s Community Standards

    The Dos

    • Be sure to contact Customer Support if a buyer requests any form of academic services or homework services from you.
    • Always inform the buyer that the requested service is strictly prohibited on Fiverr.
    • Instead, offer the buyer an alternative service. This can range from online tutoring for the specific subject to proofreading the completed work.

    The Don’ts

    • Do not offer academic-related services. This includes but is not limited to:
      • Homework
      • Academic papers
      • Bibliographies
    • Do not offer academic institution application services. This includes but is not limited to:
      • Writing and completing college applications
      • Writing letters of recommendation

If you violate these guidelines and offer academic services, it could lead to your account being disabled.

So where does a narration of someone's proposal come in? I wouldn't be writing anything for them. I wouldn't be offering any advice or doing any "work" on their behalf. I would just be narrating their proposal.

I have a feeling the client isn't going to want to work with me any way because it will be extremely expensive to have me narrate tens of thousands of words. But I'd like to know one way or another so that I can let them know.

    Any ideas?

  7. It’s not like they’re taking 40% on top of what they’re “loaning” - it’s being used to pay back the advance. I see it more like credit.

thanks for explaining, that’s what I was confused about 🙂

  8. Don’t do it. Not worth it.

(Is this in the Payment part of the ToS?)

Don’t do it. Not worth it.

Yeah not to be dramatic but I wouldn’t really trust Fiverr with this kind of contract haha! I’m not tempted. I just would like to understand it bc if they’re taking 40% of people’s earnings in exchange for advance pay that’s wild.

I haven’t searched the main ToS for this yet but I’ll prob do that. I found the info I posted in the Terms and Conditions in the advance pay page.

  9. *** No need to comment explaining this to me - it’s been explained below multiple times! 🙂

Am I reading this right? I just got offered to take part in Fiverr’s advance-pay thing, where you can withdraw money not yet in your balance under the condition that you will pay it back from your future earnings.

But… Fiverr takes 40% of your future earnings instead of 20%??? Is that correct?

As a condition of your participation in the Fiverr Cash Advance Program, you agree to:
    Authorize Fiverr, including Fiverr’s Payment Services Providers (as defined in the Fiverr Payment Terms) to deduct, as agreed, the 40% Take Rate from the Future Receivables owed to you in connection with your completed Gigs on the Fiverr Site;

it also says that if I withdraw 5,000 now, I’ll have to pay back 5,681 later. So what’s the 40% about?

I’ve read the fine print but it’s a lot of legal jargon and I don’t really get it.

EDIT Thank you @cynicalking for explaining, this is what I was confused about and it makes sense to me now 🙂

It’s not like they’re taking 40% on top of what they’re “loaning” - it’s being used to pay back the advance. I see it more like credit.

  10. Customer support takes long time to respond these days mate.Contact fiverr on facebook and explain them the problem and send them the order ID and complain ID.They will assist you

Has this worked for you? Contacting Fiverr on facebook? Have you actually had a ticket resolved this way?

An agent on Facebook is not going to be able to extend or cancel an order or contact a buyer on your behalf.

  11. Just send a message if they don’t include the $5 commercial rights option that you are including it. Or mention that it’s included in the description. It’s just so you show up when someone ticks that filter.

Yeah that’s fair, but the issue is that few people read my description and some will purchase commercial rights in error. NOT allowing us to include it means that we have to find these silly workarounds - my suggestion would solve them. That’s why I posted it on the Site Suggestion category 😜

  12. Another option or workaround you could use is to set your commercial rights price at $5. So while your basic price actually includes the commercial rights, you still show up under the filter for commercial rights.

I also think it’s an attractive selling point to have your commercial rights extra at only $5.

This is my price for commercial rights, the issue is hardly anyone purchases commercial rights because they don’t think they have to, and so only my honest buyers end up purchasing them. I have gotten into way too many arguments with buyers about the purpose of commercial rights, why they need them, etc. The alternative I offered above is a perfect fix for this, and they already offer it for wav files as many sellers want to include that in their base price - so there’s no reason they shouldn’t be able to implement it 🙂

  13. I have raised my prices to include commercial rights as many other sellers have done - to avoid confusion and arguments with buyers.

However, buyers can still filter by “commercial rights” which means I have to include it as an extra if I want to show up in those filtered results.

A super easy fix would be the option to tick a “commercial rights” box next to the base price when you’re setting your prices in “edit gig” - this is already an option for “wav file” so why not provide it for commercial rights too? That way those who don’t want to charge extra will still show up in the results 🙂

I know I’m not the only seller who is frustrated with commercial rights so I think this would be a super easy way for there to be an option for everyone.
