  1. I feel like people think it's smart even though my prices are VERY clear. I always guess that some people just don't care enough to check them out which is perhaps even worse (they want to work together, but can't even look at it...) This is my 'favourite' though. I don't go to a restaurant and tell the waitress, 'if the food is good I'll be back'. Do I perhaps think it? Absolutely, though that's because 2 of our fave places were closed last year (RIP Chinese place with the best mapo tofu I cannot recreate). I guess I don't like the honeypot approach (which I think is pretty obvious.) Nope, post was pretty hidden by all the current happenings. (again, I wish I could reply in a quirky way but I need coffee first. We just got this awesome salted caramel blend, it's really tasty as a latte!)
  2. I reached out in my usual rambly/scared style (the email gave me a minor panic attack so), but we'll see I guess? If it's just a mistake, that's a bit of a wild one, especially if they didn't realise it was sent out as a mistake... (could have been real for me I guess? I don't know anymore.)
  3. That's the thing! How can your rate dip if you don't have any first time buyers? If I look back at the past 3 months, I had about 40 orders. 10-15 of that were new (which sounds like a lot) either to more or Fiverr, but at least 5 of those if not more reordered. I'm still getting normal messages from new people as well. I'm also a bit confused as to why send it out to so many at the same time. Even if it's automated and a new feature, it just feels a bit odd to me. But I guess hopefully we'll be heard and be able to learn more about what we mess up later? Maybe?
  4. I will say that to some extent I have to agree. The second I read the email I freaked out (I'm one day post wisdom tooth extraction so that also contributes to it but also, anxiety.) if someone could explain: yeah, your buyers think that you did wrong or that you didn't explain x process to them, I'd totally get it but without it it just doesn't feel right I guess? I'm working on having a visual progress guide and a visual portfolio guide to replace the written what but if people don't read (or are just honest/wanted something else) there isn't much I can do. Even my angel of a dentist has some bad reviews. It's just how it works, not everyone will be happy.
  5. I think it said seller plus. Mine was 11:29 Swedish time. So looks like they came roughly at the same time but not exactly. I feel like this could be good if it provided real solutions or insight into what's rated worse than it should be.
  6. I wonder if it's gonna be a monthly thing - you get a mail at the last of every month if you're doing badly? (I... don't think that's the case. Actually, I HOPE not. I don't think my anxiety could deal with that.)
  7. What I thought prior was that it's an average that is 'acceptable'. So for example, 3.5 or 4 or whatever. Everyone is compared to that (instead of different metric.) Your idea makes more sense to be honest! We did seem to get the email at the same time though which is interesting.
  8. So... I'm writing here again because it's interesting (I will contact my SM about it sometime soon, but yeah.) I got the same-ish email as @frank_dgot. March was my best-selling and second-best revenue month ever (I would have beaten the first one with ease, but this week I had a lot of doctors' appointments and dental stuff going on, which made it so that some things were delayed (no one minds that though and the deliveries this week so far had been to frequent buyers who were trying to tell me to rest instead of working for the most part.) The way I do things is that I do a quick test order or chat with buyers as a first step to make sure our expectations are aligned, and some never come back, so that could be it, I guess (so people who are new to me deciding not to order again), but it's kind of normal to shop around, right? I guess my point is that the indicators on the sight (actual orders, etc.) aren't always a clear sign of what's going on on the inside?) I've had a few rough cases since January with new-ish buyers (mostly mismatched expectations or someone not realizing my pricing/etc.), but that's really all I can think of. Nothing sticks out in March and most of Feb. I totally understand Fiverr's focus on new buyers, but if there's no clear sign of them being dissatisfied, it's really a bit difficult to keep track of them, I guess. I'm posting here; I guess, because the mail came as a bit of a 'slap' (or bump on the head). I'm doing the best I have in years, but that's not good enough. I wonder, though, did anyone who's going through a slump (and is in seller plus) also get the email?
  9. Ah sorry I don't think the title bit was clear. It should just be "I will" (since fiverr doesn't let us change it.) I will do x sounds OK if there's no other verb, but I will can doesn't! If you can do all that though, great! (I don't have that many types of things I can sell but we're all different of course!)
  10. Something interesting I've noticed (other than the fact that my impressions nearly doubled in like three days after I posted here) is that the more impressions I have, the more completely irrelevant messages I get. This is perhaps normal, but it's never been this bad. It does almost feel like it's being switched on and off. Sometimes I have less impressions but with accurate searches that lead to great projects and then suddenly more impressions but close to nothing but spam and people asking me to code or draw. Just in the past 2 weeks I had two ups (impressions wise) and one very sharp down (but orders up.) I will say - I am a pretty low volume seller, I do rely heavily on some bigger projects that I often split up so it might not be super relevant to some niches but yeah.
  11. Hey! I'm going to be a bit rough on you, but maybe you'll be able to learn something from what I will say! For me, the prices aren't the red flag. If you are a legitimate designer/etc. that is what you should charge. What would throw me off (as a buyer) are: - Your descriptions are super short and don't really explain much. I know you have packages/etc. But still. - Your gig images look very much the same as everyone else's in the same fields, AND you offer way too many 'anyone can do this' type gigs. In this time and age that's just not going to work anymore. Focus on one thing that you can truly do and niche down from there. - Your titles are weird. 'I will can' on a translation gig is... you know, a bit ironic. What I would do is step back, take a breath and try to see what you can do better. Show off your work more in your images, WIN people over by your description, and try to offer something that truly provides value. I would revamp some of the gigs to be more focused on niche markets that need websites/etc. Maybe that could help?
  12. I came back to Fiverr fully in 2020 after several bad reviews (mostly cancellations) back in 2018 or 2019 as I lost access/time to use my computer. My account wasn't new, and while it had a good amount of good reviews, it still had bad ones as well. Guess who's a TRS now? While yes, new accounts are pushed, deleting and trying again and again just isn't the solution to this. If something doesn't work now, it won't work later, either. If I took my least popular gig and remade it on a new account, nothing would happen (well, I'd likely be banned.) I understand where you're coming from, but I genuinely don't think it's the right advice. What is, then? I personally like to tell people to do research and niche down, but in such crowded categories where there are a lot of people who sell templates/etc. that are free it's just hard to get started. One really has to show that they are a true professional and have a bit of luck.
  13. Oh my, that's rough! I will say I did take a look at your gig, and I can kind of see why your clients could think that they ordered the right thing - I think your second package says, 'I will record a singer-songwriter song for you'. WHILE I think I understand what you mean by that (not original writing), I can see how it could be misunderstood. That being said, you did say 'please contact me' before, so all misunderstandings SHOULD be easily avoided, but some people won't read that far. Now as to what to do, I would likely start with editing your gig a bit to make sure others won't misunderstand (I had to add a clause to my FAQ about NOT being an artist and still get asked if I do art.... so absolutely not placing the blame on you, it's just how it is.) and then try to contact the customer about a possible middle-ground. If they are being nasty (or if it's obvious that they ordered this way to save money and knew what they were doing), I'd cancel through support. Officially, I don't think that affects us, but you never know... Maybe you can diversify what you offer even more if you're struggling to get orders. This is unrelated to your post; I'm just adding it because I think there's a ton that you could do! This year seems to have had a rocky start for many people, but it's worth a try?
  14. Why post about it then? When you know it's incorrect and many of us have said it's not how things work, what's your point? I'm genuinely curious and would love to understand you more. (just so you understand, I was joking. I used a silly example to explain WHY being online and doing nothing else doesn't work. Same as staring at a game without playing it, you're not actually achieving anything)
  15. We have a new board game that I'm terrible at (it's a very tactile one and I'm clumsy.) does this mean that all I have to do is set it up on the table and stare at it for a few hours a day to be able to beat my boyfriend / friends? Or is there also a magic spell I have to say? 😛
  16. Just to clarify - are you saying that staying active will make us all successful? Or is this just a cheer-up message?
  17. Believe it or not, ads don't always work. In some of my worse months I paid more for ads but got very little back from them (on Fiverr of course.) Can be helpful, yes, but probably just as much as studying /reworking gigs and not much more. I had a really good November, then two sort of bad months (low impressions and sales, saved by regulars mostly) but Feb/March has been really busy. Slumps seem normal-ish at this point so I personally just spread big projects out and hope for the best but it's definitely sad sometimes. However, trying to fix mistakes (for me it included focusing on small details and communication really helps both pass time and in the long run.)
  18. Nothing, uncortunaly. I'd your client doesn't have a webpage, you don't put them there. You can maybe show the work you'd done for them in your portfolio, but I'd see how other people have done that first.
  19. Fiverr takes 20% from us, but that's from the quoted price (e.g. $150 Canadian in this case.) That doesn't show up for the buyer at all. BUT the site DOES add a fee on top of what you quote depending on the order's size (I think it's a flat fee?) The buyer pays it (and then you pay 20% of what you quoted them (for example, if the gig is 5 dollars, they pay, say, 7( I'm not sure how much exactly) but your 20% is taken off from the 5 bucks, not 7.) What I'm thinking is that it might just be that it just shows up a bit higher since the CAD is a touch weaker than the USD. (so, for example, if the flat fee is, I don't know, $5 per order or whatever, it'd be more/less in other currencies.) I do actually think, though, that if the currency isn't specified, you are quoting them in USD but I'm not entirely sure about that. Just to reiterate, NOPE, that's not the way; you'll only be losing more money. The fee is smaller than 20% I think (it could be just 7 dollars, actually.) What I'd do is check the TOS for the fees in your currency, so you know (just in case) or maybe even place an order to see how it works from the buyer's side! I think that helped me a lot in understanding how the process is! (I do think the TOS has a section on this though somewhere, might be just buried by some other stuff.)
  20. So... I've noticed something very interesting. Currently, I have a lot of work (basically at full capacity though that's also due to my arm getting hurt and me having to slow down) but I did have 2 months (Dec-Jan) that were only just around average because I have some return clients. Would have been all but empty. Now, my SM did say around that time that my satisfaction score dipped down a bit, so I think that's mostly it (had some odd interactions / bad fits so it makes sense) but I bounced back quicker than expected (my November was really good though that's when I'm assuming the dip happened, but counting with 90 days I'd think my Feb would be bad as well?) Fast-forward to now though, I havs 7 orders in queue instead of the what used to be the normal 3-4 (I take on less work but bigger projects). Out of those, two are new orders that I got today from new clients and one I got maybe 2 days ago? Another one a few days back, all new clients (not to Fiverr but to me). But... My impressions are less than half of what they were max. 10 days ago. Clicks around only a little less though (I don't have a lot of them but working on raising that a bit.) but what I'm trying to say that it might be a change in something in the way search works again ? (or a bug with the numbers). It just feels a bit weird to have the least impressions I've had in months but the most orders / inquires. I raised my prices but while that's when the dip in impressions seems to have started, it didn't affect sales at all which usually would be the case (at least when my impressions are halved...) What stands against this though (or for it maybe? Depends how you look at it.) is that I do have less spam than I would have normally. Not by much but it's noticeable. Maybe they are tweaking stuff? (or maybe it really is everyone just having a slump at the same time? It could be anything I guess.) Love this post so much though, I never even thought about how new buyers could be THAT important but it definitely sounds like a possibility. A bit of a scary one though since many of them don't know the site and could mess stuff up without wanting to (for us and themselves).
  21. Have you tried any of the advice others have given you (in your many topics before?) Did nothing work? I would start by reading your description again and making sure you're conveying what you want to because it confuses me. So do your gig titles, if I'm being honest. I'd also consider not having this in your gigs. Sounds a bit cocky somehow. Read on the forum and slowly better your profile bit by bit. It helps, trust me.
  22. I'm genuinely curious what my blue-haired-girl in the sunlight photo (not the pic on here but on the main site) makes people think. (that being said, I'm a game dev so it checks out?). I liked the illustration I had of myself more, but I had to change it 😞 I definitely think that looking approachable (or showing what you do on your picture) helps. Not sure I'd be comfortable buying art from a k-pop star (I have seen pictures of them on here before) or something similar. Now MUSIC, maybe, but... Not sure if this means anything but I love your posts 😛 I don't reply much because my wit can't even be compared to yours (turns off the second I put the 'WORD' tab down. I'm unfunny, my characters aren't 😛) but I love that you genuinely give advice AND entertain people at the same time. I think THIS is the most important bit, though. If those who can't be bothered to read the whole post have seen this at least, they've already learned something. You can be pretty, (or handsome), witty, charming and so sweet you give your friends diabetes but if you're not good at what you're trying to sell, you won't make it. Easy as that. Not EVERYONE was meant to be a freelancer and that's cool. Preferable even. (imagine if doctors/teachers/baristas/everyone suddenly started working on Fiverr and nothing else lol)
  23. All of us have posted several threads aimed at newcomers to help. We aren't critiquing someone for no reason; it's a lot more complicated than that. People rattle off such advice but don't explain why or HOW to do it. Do you really think they do it to help you (and other newcomers) when this is posted on the forum 50 times a day? Or are they maybe doing it because they think they'll get orders from it? Because someone told them that posting on the forum and liking every post will 'make Fiverr think you are working hard' (or whatever other BS.?) It's not (just) OP in particular; it's many people. I personally actually want people to succeed, so I tell them things that worked for me. Does that make me an expert removed from reality? Maybe, since I niched down and got lucky, but still. If someone is new but also an expert in their field, they still don't exactly know how Fiverr works. OP might be a wonderful dev, and I'd love to hear their tips in their field of expertise (as someone who can't manage a website at all) but not stuff like this.
  24. How can you guarantee this? Thing is, someone might have good (look-wise) gigs but still fail. Why would that be? And what is considered, say, an optimized title in this case? I think if you're trying to advise other sellers, concrete tips are a lot more helpful. You see a lot of people list the exact same tips as you do, but... I think, especially, new sellers need information that is more specific. If you can't provide that, maybe you should still be posing questions yourself instead. (of course, it's hard to judge based on a single topic, but...)
  25. This worked for me for a bit as well! I tried to just read before bed (turn phone off, etc.) and had the best sleep I've had in a while, but I keep breaking this new habit (so I guess it's not a habit yet!) It's kind of hard because we do sleep earlier (than I used to) here, so it means turning off my phone around 11, which of course, happens to be when I get the most messages (except for random rushes on Tuesdays ha.) I do think though, that making it so that work doesn't really get into our 'free' time (to some extent) is best for our mental (and honestly, physical) health! I can't wait until the weather is a bit nicer so I can go on evening walks as well since I try not to take my phone on those! (it's really cold here still!)
