  1. @nikavoice - 🤮

In the north of England they used to call people “ducks” - particular to Lancashire, I think. That was a friend’s pet hate.

On occasion I may say something like “thanks, lovely” - but that’s only acceptable in London. Here in Glasgow it might get you a black eye …

Use people’s name, their handle … or nothing. “Honorifics” are not honourable in every culture.

Just fyi - “Dear” here in the UK was part of an extremely patronizing insurance advert catch phrase - “calm down dear”. Again 🤮

@coerdelion I didn’t know you’re from the 🇬🇧 that’s pretty cool. Love the accent. Once a upon a time a 🇬🇧 dude addressed me as “Luv”. Of course, it didn’t bother me because we were friends.

LOL, I’ll swing by YT to see if I could find it. 😃

    yes

    yes

Okie Dokie. Well, it doesn’t work that way, you should be PAID for the work you’ve completed and delivered. If she goofed up and chose the wrong platform that’s not your fault. She would have to order another gig for Weebly, if you offer that service. If you don’t offer Weebly, then there’s nothing more you can do. Communicate to her that’s what she ordered and you’ve completed the order per her request.

  3. Ah, I actually searched for other threads but didn’t find any…sorry.

    It’s all good. 😎

I mean when I write letters, I sometimes start off with Dear, Jigsaw.

Writing it in a Hi, Dear form is awkward.

Anytime, I see that word, I cringe. I had a few people addressed me as hun recently. Eek!

  4. Guys, all of you, if you think something is wrong, some of my advises in the topic are wrong, tell me. I will correct it if you prove me I’m wrong.

Yikes, since the last time I posted it was the first 10-20 posts. I was literally done with this thread. I see that it keeps going and going like the Energizer 🐰

hi, i have been in fiver for about 2 weeks, but I don’t make my first order yet.

Um, it takes some sellers more than 2-weeks sometimes months to score their first sale. When you started your Fiverr career, I bet you thought the orders would’ve been plentiful. Nope! It doesn’t work that way. You have to work hard and make your business a success. Read through the Tips for Sellers section, bookmark it! 🍍

  6. We’ve had multiple discussions about the term “Dear” on the forum. Yes, I get annoyed, too.

    Here’s one.

Using “Dear” in place of someone’s name/username is very colloquial and I thought this would help some sellers with their communication wink GOOD USES: “Dear seller”“Dear buyer”“Dear NAME” (example: Dear Bob)“Dear USERNAME” (example: Dear Bob1989)NOT GOOD: “Hi Dear”“Yes Dear”“No Dear”Using a person’s username or actual name is a better choice than simply calling them Dear (it’s much more appropriate), and it will help you build a relationship with clients.

It’s a funny thread to read through. 😁

Being addressed as Honorable & Respected is kinda over the top. crown I’d be coolio with “Hi, there.” But, DEAR not so much. Don’t dare, call me dear. The only Dear I’m into are the Dear Abby columns. newspaper

I found another one. HAHAHAHA so yeah it’s an epidemic. Sir, Dear, Ma’am ugh!

Look, I know that “sir” is generally seen as a sign of respect that can potentially be gender neutral (but obviously leans towards men). However, that doesn’t stop me from feeling a blow to my ego when you use it to address me. I at least hope that my profile picture does not look like a “sir.” Some guy used this to address me 3 times. Please try not to address a female as “sir.” We tend to not like it.

  7. I can’t log in to my account But still thank you

Just keep in mind… Fiverr does not disable accounts for fun. They always have proof to back up the action taken on users’ accounts. They rarely and I use that term loosely reinstate a banned account. When you email them, you can ask for their permission to open a new account. Don’t forget to read the TOS.

  11. Yikes! 😲 I just read the Buyer’s feedback, it was very detailed. If you’re offering Unlimited Revisions, you just cannot refuse them. That’s considered False Advertisement. You need to reconsider offering unlimited revisions if you don’t want to do them. I agree with @coerdelion the response to the Buyer was unprofessional. This could cause potential Buyers to not want to work with you. 😬

Yes, this was unfortunate for many students. 😟 I watched quite a few virtual ceremonies, my university commencement was done virtually for the first time in history. My classmates were disappointed but they understood. I hope when it’s time for me to graduate, things will be back to normal to really enjoy the graduation ceremony. 🎓

even though I’m only a fresh graduate high school student, I’m sure i can do some things to help even in this pandemic.

I think it’s awesome you decided to start your Fiverr Empire! 🙂

    Anyway, Welcome to Fiverr. 🎉

  14. Hey there,

I am offering crowdfunding services and I got a customer with a very sick 11-year-old boy which was for me personally heartbreaking. I couldn’t give him services for free so I gave him a custom offer for 5$. I started with his order immediately even tho I got 4 more orders to make before him. I have done services which I charge 100$. I gave him basically everything for free just to help little Lucas and as he was a gamer, owning a youtube channel I posted this to our Youtube community (I own a channel with 15k subscribers). They were really kind and donated, some even donated 50$ and more. When I delivered him services with huge success I asked him if he can help me with my business and give me positive feedback. Three days have passed and he didn’t even say “thank you”. I msged him and told him what i have done for him and he’s not even saying “thank you”. Then his answer was “Do you always attack customers like that”, and rated me 1. I was shocked, he brutally destroyed my business with that rate. I immediately apologized to him if he was offended, cos I didn’t want him to be offended by my msg, and I asked him if we can make this right. After that, he blocked me and left rate 1. I certainly did not deserve rate 1 by making him nearly free services, successful services, immediate job done and I even rated him 5 cos I thought he might rate me very positively. I messaged support and support didn’t even give me reply and it has passed 2 days and half already. What else can I do guys? Please help me

    SMH 🥴

OK, yeah it’s unfortunate that the Buyer’s child is sick. But at the end of the day what does that have to do with you? If a Buyer comes to you and says they are starving and don’t have food to eat, what are you suppose to do? Buy a Happy Meal? No, you do NOTHING!

If a Buyer comes to you and says, his/her pants 👖 is bursting at the seams. Are you doing to buy the Buyer new pants? NOPE!

You are offering a service that they must PAY for. The Buyer was using this sob story to play on your mental, which worked. The Buyer used you and now you’re here in this predicament. I hope you’ve learned a lesson.

Are you on this platform to make money or work for FREE?

This is a business, not charity. 🍍
