  1. I always wondered about articles that state when a large business have net loss in the millions. Are they saying their profit decreased by that much or they were expecting their profit to increase by xx% but didn’t. Ya know, like a steady 10% increase over the years but this year they only got a 5 % increase; therefore they had a net loss of (whatever). Technically speaking, how can a company afford to continue with loss unless that loss isn’t really a loss.
  2. can’t be right, I’d like to see the breakdown of that. They certainly get a lot of % from low-value orders but 42% from every dollar spent, how? Let’s see … For a $5 order: Buyer spends $7 Seller gets $4 Fiverr gets $3 of $7 = 42.86% (so that seems to be where that 42% comes from) For a $10 order: Buyer spends $12 Seller gets $8 Fiverr gets $4 of $12 = 33.33% For a $50 order: Buyer spends ($50+5%) $52.50 Seller gets $40 Fiverr gets $12.50 of $52.50 = 23.81% For a $100 order: Buyer spends ($100+5%) $105 Seller gets $80 Fiverr gets $25 of $105 = 23.81% for a $500 order: Buyer spends ($500+5%) $525 Seller gets $400 Fiverr gets $125 of $525 = 23.81% for a $1000 order: Buyer spends ($1000+5%) $1050 Seller gets $800 Fiverr gets $250 of $1050 = 23.81% for a $5000 order: Buyer spends ($5000+5%) $5250 Seller gets 4000Fiverr gets 1250 of 5250$ = 23.81% Lots of math, short conclusion: For orders with the $2 “Flatrate” fee, Fiverr get the more percent, the lower the order amount, and from where it goes from $2 “Flatrate” to 5% ($40 is the “breaking point”, I think), they get 23.81%, no matter the order amount. Unless my math is wrong, it’s not my strongest point. Agreed, in any branch, it would be far better if people got what their work is worth rather than tips. Hum, perhaps she is saying that 42% of every dollar they make is put back into advertising the site? If they are pocketing the rest that’s pretty good money.
  3. Whoa! 😮 That’s insane. The truth is that the prices on 5r has increased so much, I don’t feel like tips are warranted anymore. Many of the sellers I’ve been working with have doubled or tripled. Don’t get me wrong, I’m glad they did. They were making way below what they were worth. Now that most of them are getting paid well and with increase in service fees, it’s just not necessary.
  4. I used to tip more often when the service fee was $0.50 or less. When it rose to a $1, I tipped less often bit in bigger amounts. When it rose to $2, I rarely tip. Tipping isn’t customary or even normal on freelancing sites. I do admit it felt nice to reward some great sellers as a way of showing appreciation but that generosity goes only so far. Fiverr is punishing buyers for showing appreciation to sellers. Can you imagine any restaurant in the USA telling a customer we have to pay a service fee to tip the waiter?
  5. Would you or did you tip more or more often if/when there were no transaction fees? Just curious.
  6. Be careful never to ask for a review. This what I found out after talking to CS. Unless a buyer is just pure evil, I don’t think most of us will report a seller for such minor infraction. I’ve reported sellers for given me stolen logos, but let’s face it, that’s a major theft. Even though this rule has been out for a long while, I still get high level sellers (long standing) sellers that really should know better ask me for reviews. I guess they are just comfortable with me.
  7. A while back, they had a stat for buyer’s domination. I worked hard to find a seller in Mongolia and few countries in S. America as well as Africa & Asia. I hired a seller in Russia, Mongolia and Canada just to fill my map. I was working to find a seller in Greenland when they removed the buyer’s world domination map - so, I lost interest. I wonder if there are any seller’s on 5r from Greenland?
  8. Oh, how beautiful. I love the greenery! Somehow green grass and blue water makes everything so peaceful and lovely! Ahhh! Feeling relaxed right now! 🙂
  9. Oh, how nice! I’ve been fascinated with going to Africa to see the wildlife for a very long time. I can definitely see myself getting spoiled and relaxing on the first two you posted. Sigh One day, one day, I shall visit the wonderful continent and see all the great things nature and god has made for us! 😍
  10. The Serengeti National Park in Tanzania so I can go on an African safari! I would love to relax in one of the luxury hotels, eat like there is no tomorrow and go for a hot balloon through the park - if, I’m really lucky, I may even see lions/leopards/cheetah’s chasing their dinner! I honestly don’t know anyone with the same vacation ideas as me, so not sure.
  11. You’re probably right, but it’s just fun to see the map be colored in. They used to have one for buyers but took it away early last year. I had S. America 50% done. Sigh so sad, I wanted to see the progress I was having hiring sellers from different part of the world. I even went and hired a guy in Mongolia just to get the map colored in. 😆
  12. What if people leave you 4 or 3 star reviews thinking it’s a good review? ⭐ Good work ⭐ Better than expected Those are actual reviews left by buyers. Look at some profiles of their sellers. Since 3 and 4 star is considered good reviews, 5r support will not remove it and it’s against Tos to ask buyer to change it. Not getting review can be a blessing.
  13. I’d like to ask, as a buyer does this approach bother you? This is the text I use when I deliver. Hi, Your project is enclosed. If you have any questions or comments, please let me know. Otherwise, I would very much appreciate positive feedback. Please add my gig to your favorites so we can work together again in the future. Thanks again. The review page pops up right after I accept the order so it’s impossible to miss - I actually have to press the skip button to bypass it. I like the personal touch on delivery such as briefly telling me what you did for me, even if you regurgitate the requirements section. In my line of work, there is a technique we call “shadowing.” There are various name for it. When having a verbal conversation, the nodding of your head and occasionally repeating what the other person says, makes the person feel you understand, sympathize and/or agree. This leads to better, fulfilling conversation on the 2nd party. In writing, you can use similar technique to make client feel special in a professional way. It takes you 2 minutes to list what you did, then you can add the " my goal is to make sure you’re. . . . " It makes me feel good to get the personal touch from seller than short, abrupt messages. It makes me want to reciprocate with a nice review.
  14. You can simply place that in the text you use to deliver the product. Something like “If you have questions, please let me know. If you are happy with the work, I would really appreciate positive feedback.” I absolutely, positively hate it when sellers ask me for reviews.
  15. Still makes me laugh! That was the funniest review I had ever read! 😆
  16. Buyer’s map disappeared last month!! ** SIGH ** I was having fun filling my map with sellers from around the world; suddenly, with no warning - POOF - it disappeared. I was 😥
  17. What is difference between dark, medium and light blue?
  18. Funny you said that. I actually hired a guy to do my lawn that was doing my neighbor’s lawn. 🙂
  19. @writer99025: You’re either a night owl or an early bird!! Whew, I’m getting ready for bed so I can get Friday started with lots and lots of energy. PS: Technically, I’ve been sharing a few items already such as the eBook Cover design and a few cartoons for my book. I was thinking about giving the seller credit by linking their gig page to it.
  20. Hi Eva, I noticed after I close out a gig (buyer) there is an option for me to share the work delivered - regardless of what it is - via twitter, facebook, LinkedIn, google+, etc. Up until now, I have never done so. I have some amazing work that I have gotten done here on Fiverr, from many great sellers of all levels. I am wondering if I were to share a few of the great works to my followers, on some of those platforms, if that would help those sellers? Do you know if any of your buyers have done this? If so, did it make a difference? I ask because everyone tells a newbie to use social media to advertise. If you are trying to advertise your own gig - people may not be all too excited about it. If someone else were to try - maybe potential buyers will listen to a buyer?? 😃 Just seeing if there is something I can do to help!! 😇
