  1. I am getting sick of students asking me to do their school work. 🤨 Lately, I have had an average of two “do my homework for me” requests per day. And if 3.0 does not like it when a seller does not convert prospects into buyers that is harmful to my account! I had an inquiry for a 90 day SEO plan today. They wanted it to be max 2 pages, within 3 days max. I queried both of the requirements as it sounds very assignment-y to me. After querying and then directly asking if it was an assignment, they said it wasn’t but then disappeared. These types of requests can be for almost any service so it’s important that people are watching out for unusual and specific requirements like the above. Oh, and it was at 2am their time - exactly the time when a student struggling with an assignment would go looking for an easy way out.
  2. Just buy yourself a dozen new jumpers on Fiverr, problem solved! Regarding metadata, once I had issues with my gig, and discovered that somehow my language pairs (which I know I had chosen …) had been “reset” to nothing. Retrospectively, I thought, the most probable reason other than a very random bug, is that it somehow happened when they made some category update. I think it makes sense to check one’s gigs at every such update to make sure that all metadata are still there/as one wants them, even if one thinks one doesn’t want to change anything when reading about the category update. Yep, there’s been a couple of issues about those including removing the language pairings altogether at one point!
  3. Same here. The first orders were great, but since then I barely got any leads, and most of them are for academic assignments or stuff outside of the TOS… I’ve got a few 10,000 words for $10 type requests. My Marketing gig got a lot of impressions and Clicks from being promoted but no messages and no orders. It’s surprising considering that gig specifically encourages messaging me to discuss their needs. Given the cost per click of that I have decided to stop promoting it and will have to consider how to change it or whether it is worth doing.
  4. Hmm, I am pretty sure that category update is to blame for this. I am dealing with the same issue. Same with the clicks. I can only assume our gigs are shown to more people, but they are less relevant. Hmmm, I wonder if that would also apply to Promoted gigs; are they being shown to more less relevant people. Have to say, after an amazing start with them getting $300 of orders in my first $10, I have not had another order with a further $30 spent. Still a great return (considering the first $10 was free) but still, I am monitoring it daily now where before I was just letting it be for a week.
  5. I could definitely see that being a thing since that would make more sense to focus on than relying on a single metric for conversion. On that note, the last 3 - 4 days have been pretty weird for me. I’m getting almost no new messages or orders from new clients and the messages I do get don’t seem to be related to my gig at all which hasn’t happened for the last month or so at least. Weirdly enough, I’m getting more clicks on my gig than usual. Exactly the same. All gigs are getting more impressions and clicks than they have since I came back a month ago but few orders and messages
  6. Those with the least orders are newer. The proofreading kids’ books is brand spanking new! ✨ The one with the second most reviews was my original and oldest gig. I had a regular buyer who did nothing but blog posts that is why that gig has so many reviews. Ugh, need to do some new unique images for these so may be added to the to-do list on my long finger.
  7. I have many buyers both repeat and first-timers that do not leave any reviews so I guess I am missing out on that spark. 🎆 All but two of my gigs are for proofreading. I started with a general proofreading gig and as buyers began to send me multiple orders for blogs, books, letters, etc. I decided to make a gig for each type of service. Besides, I needed an excuse to buy new gig images from @zeus777. 😉 I figured having a gig for each type of proofreading service would make it easier for buyers to find me. I must say I had a quick snoop at your gigs and I am surprised by the amount of orders each had - not that you have them, that’s not a surprise - but the way they are spread out among a variety of gigs offering proofreading for specific types of document. So perhaps I am missing out by only having one catch-all gig. I guess the answer is likely to be “I will do both” 🙂
  8. From what the OP has said, it seems like they are looking to work in computers and that their Fiverr gigs will be a side gig to keep them going while studying. I don’t see the point in advising them to begin studying something else while already studying computer science and English. They want to make some money now, or soon at least. As for not making money in translation, sure, there’s probably a limit to how much can be made but that’s not to say there’s no money in it. Also, how many graphic designers get to the level where they are charging 100 times what the rest charge; not too many I would imagine.
  9. I didn’t take into account this little detail, that’s why It didn’t work and makes a lot of sense. Sacrifices should be made always in order to gain something, so I won’t have a problem doing that. If what I tried previously didn’t work, it was for a reason. What you are talking about sounds pretty realistic to me so I’ll modify those values since it’s true that otherwise, I won’t be able to get reviews at all. You mean that I should create a separate gig for this service right? Yes, that’s right. Have a separate gig for proofreading
  10. I can’t really lower the price since 5$ is the minimum possible in Fiverr, so I guess that what you mean is, I should offer more translated words for the minimum price right? Makes a lot of sense to me, and also I believe it’s the realistic way of doing things. I was copying what the best sellers were offering in terms of prices, but that didn’t work at all. I guess you are more than right with your statement. At this moment I offer 300W for 5$, maybe if I raise the word limit to 500 will suffice? Yeah, it only makes sense to price yourself with the bestsellers when you are at that level and have the reviews to prove it. Honestly, to have any chance of competing with English to Spanish, you would need to be looking at $5/1000 until you get your first 10 reviews. Your competition are all other Spanish speaking countries where some have very a low cost of living and pricing. You may want to tell me to shove it with that price but you have to be able to look past the price for those first few orders. Essentially, you are working to get reviews, not get paid. I would also suggest that you offer a Spanish proofreading service.
  11. At this point your only selling point to people searching is price. Nothing else. Unfortunately given your gig type, you will have quite a bit of competition on already low prices from countries where $5 goes a lot further. I hate advising someone to compete on price, I really hate it, but there are not many ways to differentiate yourself from the competition. You don’t have reviews and you don’t see buyer requests yet so you are in a bad situation to try compete any other way. It was how I started by the way; doing endless hours of work for $2-3 an hour. However, doing that gave me reviews and that meant I had the social proof to show I could do what I said. After 10 reviews I put prices up, after 20 I went up more, after 50 I put them up to my current level and am considering a price increase on some services now. Unfortunately there are still no guarantees with this method but it’s the only one that’s realistic at the moment, unless you source your own buyers and bring them to Fiverr.
  12. That’s interesting to see, I’ve already written that I’m convinced that Fiverr 3.0 wants people to specialize somewhere above. It probably matters little to and for Fiverr if some people will make fewer sales because of it - as long as there are more than enough sellers in the respective category to absorb all potential orders. One of Frank’s important points was “make the buyer happy”, and I’m pretty sure it makes buyers (especially the more sophisticated, demanding, up-market, … ones) very happy to buy from sellers they think are specialised on their topic, or ideally from sellers that are indeed specialised on their topic. There will be sellers who’ll copy what they see the top sellers choose as categories, and there will be sellers who’ll cover anything else that can be chosen. If there are topics that aren’t very popular among most sellers, there might be a chance there, as long as there is demand. Lucky those who’d choose unpopular topics out of their own volition and not just because they think their chances will be better there against the established/busy sellers. A bit simplified, if everyone wants to cover English, Music and Sports, and you cover Maths, Physics, and Chemistry (all the more if you really have a knack for it), the force may be with you. miiila: That’s interesting to see, I’ve already written that I’m convinced that Fiverr 3.0 wants people to specialize somewhere above. Had an order today for proofreading - I have one proofreading gig to cover all. He then asked to cancel it because he found someone who specializes in proofreading Website Copy… He sent the link to me and the person has a variety of “specialties” as well as a catch all proofreading gig. All have almost identical descriptions bar the one specialty keyword. Explained this to him and of course he was happy to stay with me then but the point stuck with me that I may be missing out because I don’t have proofreading gigs to specialize in every individual thing. Same could be said of translation, Marketing, SEO… I will market your dog toy business, I will market your cat toy business, I will market your pet toy business. This type of rubbish really annoys me and is completely unnecessary in most cases. Sure, specialization is a thing and some people do some things really well, but this idea of having 6 specializations is just a joke. The questions is now, do I rant about it continually or do I jump on board?
  13. I would be cautious about changing too much too soon. The tags, titles and descriptions obviously worked well for you for a long time. The other thing you noticed is that other sellers were also knocked back in rankings. The combination of these things would make me think it’s possible that this could be a short term setback and so, by changing your content, you might affect your future rankings negatively! There was another great seller who posted a similar setback but was restored to their better ranking after a relatively short period. There’s no definitive right or wrong here so just consider all things before deciding to make any big changes. Just to add: I’ve had similar lulls in the past and never went too crazy on changing things unless I realized I could improve things somehow. Every time the rankings came back some way or another - I don’t check rankings anymore as they are dynamic for each user, but I know when I’m ranking by number of impressions. There’s just no logical way that Fiverr could suddenly decide that certain keywords or phrases are no longer applicable or suitable for your category. To me anyway, radical changes should be done when they are clearly needed, not when you are shooting in the dark.
  14. I’m the same. Even if I’m working on something I check the order on my phone and then go back to work. It solves a lot of issues like missing instructions etc. I wish more people would actually take a second and understand how important this is. I remember reading about the 5 minute rule and thinking that makes perfect sense. If something takes less than 5 minutes, do it straight away It has ensured my house is cleaner, my beard is properly shaped and yes, my customers get almost instant replies every time.
  15. That’s what I started doing a while ago, and my gig is performing much better. It doesn’t take much time: I check every new order, see if I got everything I need (I’m way too anxious not to check, anyway), and say something like “thank you for the order, I will deliver before the deadline, probably sooner”. If the buyer is new to Fiverr, I also say “welcome to Fiverr” in the same message. I’m the same. Even if I’m working on something I check the order on my phone and then go back to work. It solves a lot of issues like missing instructions etc.
  16. Oh, hope you did something nice! My 4-0 is coming up later this year 😬
  17. This whole subject of delivering early is one I had been thinking about before my break. I was sure I had seen clear boosts in impressions and clicks after a productive day where I cleared a couple of orders which had a day or two left on them. Could have been coincidence but thinking further on it based on what Frank has said, it makes perfect sense for this to be a metric. I have a vague recollection of a Buyer survey Fiverr did at some point where delivering early was one of the most important things for buyers. I felt at the time this more meant that buyers hated late orders but perhaps Fiverr took it literally as buyers want early deliveries. Might be an idea to add a day to custom orders where possible.
  18. So I can’t really comment on the last few months but I definitely saw a number of these things popping up at times even 9-12 months ago. There was likely some testing going on over a longer period which made all our analysis seem somewhat muddled or right for some but not for others. Many of the things that you mention are things I remember talking about even two years ago but that was more in the sense of “it would be a good idea if Fiverr’s algorithms thought like this…” Whether with Google or Fiverr, it’s always a good idea to think about what they are trying to achieve and how that could come about. It’s how to get ahead of the competitors because when you are right you can be sure these big companies will get to their goal sooner rather than later. Great write up Frank and happy birthday, is it a big one?
  19. Was just about to comment here but yeah - OOO seems to do something that isn’t good for ranking. I paused my gigs and was away for almost 9 months but when I came back and unpaused them, my gigs have been ranking as well as before. No guarantees this isn’t a fluke or some other reason but I remember that when I used OOO for even a couple of days, it definitely affected rankings for some time.
  20. This is a great update and badly needed. I used milestones a twice or three times I think and never again after that. It was just too easy for it to go badly and to never be paid. It wasn’t fit for its purpose. 6 x 30 day milestones could have some great potential for a subscription type service like Monthly SEO etc. Will have to try it out next chance I get.
  21. This sounds to me like money laundering or something - that’s what came to my mind when reading. I would suggest contacting support and blocking those users.
  22. If people Google Payoneer Promo Code, there’s a referral that pays them $50. Try saying that in your post instead.
  23. From the Payoneer website: A Reward valued at US $25 (twenty five US dollars) (or such other amount as specified in the landing page from which the Referred Customer accessed these Terms and Conditions) (the “Reward”) shall be awarded by Payoneer to each of the Referrer and the Referred Customer that are parties to a Qualified Referral. The purpose of your post was to make money. This is why it was removed.
  24. Also, when I signed up a couple of years ago, I got $100 from Payoneer once I had withdrawn $100 of my own. It’s likely still possible to get promotions/rewards without using referral links. Edit: was a couple of years ago, it may have been $50. I don’t recall exactly.
  25. As I recall, the Payoneer referral scheme also rewards you.
