However, applied to Fiverr, isn't stated by the policies that each seller is responsable for its own content? I mean, Google could tell Fiverr that theres people thats not doing the work they promised to do, but I don't know if they could sue Fiverr as it works as an intermediarie marketplace

Yeah, it wouldn't be a straightforward case, that's for sure but there's plenty of appetite among lawmakers to make big companies accountable for what's on their platforms.

Think about Facebook, Instagram, Twitter etc and how much effort they are required to put in to reducing the illegal material on their platforms. Similarly, AirBnb, Lyft and Uber, when there is a problem with one of their hosts/drivers, they go all out to reduce their exposure to negative publicity and legal action.

The excuse of "but we just facilitate people, we aren't responsible for what they do" just doesn't work any more.

  2. IT'S HAPPENING!

No, it's not a Fiverr seller (yet?) but Google has filed a lawsuit based on the fact that the company was promising results, selling reviews and threatening companies with closure of their Google business/maps listing.

    Read the full details here:

    https://searchengineland.com/google-g-verifier-lawsuit-389853

While it's not against Fiverr sellers directly, if I were one of those making the same false promises then I'd be changing my gigs immediately as I suspect Fiverr will likely remove all gigs like this.

Once Google wins the case, Fiverr and every other platform are going to be terrified that they will be next and so they may finally clean up the SEO gig category.

Bad news for people who do that, good news for buyers and honest sellers.

  3. The best thing about Fiverr is that anyone can join as a seller.

The worst thing about Fiverr is that anyone can join as a seller.

With even a low fee of $20/month as a gate, it would keep out a lot of low quality sellers, particularly those with 10-20 accounts offering the same thing.  There are many of these; they do mass offers on Buyer Requests sending the same offer from all their accounts.

  4. The buyer will ALWAYS win and that is never going to change as fiverr is buyer-centric. So would you if buyers where your businesses entire source of income. They have nothing to gain by siding with the seller.

It’s either potentially unhappy buyer that will stop spending money on the site. Or potentially unhappy seller that can be replaced by the millions of others. It’s an obvious choice for fiverr.

The seller agreed to cancel this order.

I agree with the process that Fiverr doesn’t force order completion during disputes - even the sound of that is awful in terms of buying experience and would scare lots of decent people off.

  5. To all of you struggling to understand this situation since they are not in the Website business,

    1. I gave custom codes and design as per requested by the customer in a given PDF file.
    2. They were nice with me and asked revisions and I completed all of them.
    3. When I said %100 satisfaction I mean it because in coding world we give unlimited revisions until they are satisfied and I tell my customers this all the time.

4.The refund happens if I couldn’t to the thing. But in this case I delivered.

    4. After the website was done they removed me from admin which means I CAN NOT DO REVISIONS. And they wanted to cancel OUT OF THE SUDDEN.
    5. They did not even try to communicate with me and they probably got all my codes.
    6. So please, before you start blaming me try to understand what type of service I am giving, because I see most of you are in different careers.

      @enunciator @vickiespencer @stefanyoshovski @eoinfinnegan

When I said %100 satisfaction I mean it because in coding world we give unlimited revisions until they are satisfied and I tell my customers this all the time.

What you mean doesn’t matter - it’s what it means on Fiverr that counts.

The refund happens if I couldn’t to the thing. But in this case I delivered.

But you left no way to prove it - you made it easy for the buyer to lock you out and take your work. Yes they shouldn’t do it but this is the real world - if you give people a chance, eventually someone will take it.

So please, before you start blaming me try to understand what type of service I am giving, because I see most of you are in different careers.

Regardless of any service, Sellers have to protect themselves. If I proofread on Google Drive, you can be sure I download a copy of my work before I deliver it. If I work on the SEO of a company’s website, you can be sure I can prove what I have done. Everyone has their own potential pitfalls with Buyers and it’s up to all of us to protect ourselves.

Don’t take this “blame” thing to mean people here aren’t sympathetic to your experience, I know I am. It’s just that people here tend to offer suggestions, solutions and material to learn from rather than “aw, what a pity, let’s all cry together” which doesn’t help you or anyone else. It is really unfortunate that this happened with a big order you put a lot into and you have my pity, but more than that, you have my advice to help ensure it doesn’t happen again.

  6. they told me that the buyer always wins and unfortunately all the given efforts are not protected as they told us in the beginning when we signed up!

Can you show a screenshot of what they actually said because that sounds crazy

I’d love to actually since I’m really living a shook by wasting more +20 hrs for nothing!

I will upload screenshots to a link and share it here soon

Yeah, as I thought, you have misunderstood.

A buyer can ask for a cancellation at any stage BUT you can say no! Support didn’t say buyers always win. They said the fact that buyers can ask to cancel.

Sellers can reject the request, discuss it, convince them etc. Work on your customer service skills. But also, as was said above, don’t offer unlimited anything or money back guarantees. Its guaranteed to cause u problems.

  7. I’ve been a Fiverr seller since January 2020, this is my first time I’m writing to share my experience.

I had a customer who wanted an urgent selling page on Wordpress and after I did the job he kicked me from the administration of the page so I lost my access and then told me he is not happy with the order and want to cancel, I was like give me your comments and I will be happy to give unlimited revisions until you get satisfied “Just like what I have done with other honest buyers before!”…

But the answer was like I don’t have time to waste and a nonsense excuses.

I contacted the CS directly and after looking at the order they told me that the buyer always wins and unfortunately all the given efforts are not protected as they told us in the beginning when we signed up!

So yes, I’m now going to get a bad order completion rate + I already lost my time + lose my money.

I am not feeling protected here any more as a seller on Fiverr.

  8. I just got my first order in 3 months, I finished ahead of schedule but now I’m more confused than ever:

    • It is from a Gig that I had never got an order from before
    • It is a Gig that I haven’t edited since launching it last year
    • It is a Gig that has over 100 impressions/6 clicks over 30 days
    • My main (most successful) Gig is still getting less than 30 impressions/clicks over 30 days…

    :woman_shrugging:

This always amuses me - gigs that shouldn’t get an order get one.

My explanation for it is that there is a search term that gig ranks for which is very unusual and someone searched for it. It could be anything and not even very related to the gig.

  9. Darn it Eoin, are you giving away the secret??

Sorry Frank, but we have monopolized Fiverr for too long. I appreciate that you spent a lot of time on this thread to throw them off the scent but the people need answers.

People - note that your success begins the day you stop shaving and the longer it grows, the more successful you will be. Look at @vibronx as another example - he has just hit 500 orders and he just has designer stubble.

  10. If you really must edit/change something, I suggest changing your profile picture if it is the same you are using for your gigs. T-shirt is fine and creative, but your haircut subconsciously gives a vibe of messy and disorganized. Try a clean cut look, it works wonders.

No, he should grow a beard instead - works well for Frank and I. Clearly that is what it must be, it couldn’t be any of the info in this thread. The algorithm now punishes clean shaven guys.

  11. All my GIGs were going down and it went down further after I signed up to Seller plus, but now I made changes after one month of thinking…

    The only way is up…

Yeah, but at the same time, I was having the best month I’ve had in a long time.

It’s great that things are looking up for you and I’ll probably make some changes if things stay slow for me but like you, I’ll probably spend some time thinking things over and maybe have some me-time while I’m at it. BTW, I had a look at your gigs and they look great - no wonder you’re doing so well :hugs:

Agreed, there’s no surprise that you’re getting sales here with how you have created your gigs and profile @marinapomorac

  12. I think Fiverr is very much moving towards specificity - having very specific gigs.
With all the subcategories in gig creation now, there is less room for catch all gigs and I think we should all recognize that. I want to give an example from my situation which I am currently facing and debating.

I have an SEO consultation gig - It has done well for me over a couple of years in bringing people in to advise them on their SEO and provide an ongoing service which is aimed at whatever I believe to be the most needed for that particular site. However, SEO gigs now need to specify the type of SEO involved - I think from 6-7 subcategories. This means this consulting gig can’t really continue as it is without missing a lot of the market. My current thought is that I will need to change this one and create new, more specific gigs to cover the different elements of SEO. The other thing I could TRY is to keep the general title, choose one category and then put the other categories in as tags. However, this is not likely to work as well as it needs to and so I will likely go with the first option of various specific SEO gigs.
Think about what your own gig offers, what subcategories and other SPECIFIC elements it offers and doesn’t offer and then look at creating new gigs to cover those things.

  13. Just to throw something out there -
I stopped using the Promoted gigs feature for all gigs two days ago.
I edited gigs based on some of what has been said here, mainly tags and some of the metadata things.
Each gig (5 gigs) now has double the impressions or more - one gig got more impressions yesterday than the other six days combined. Clicks have increased similarly and I have had more messages from people today than the past five days. Keep in mind that this is WITHOUT promoted gigs being on - so the increase is really substantial in comparison.

Not gonna work for everyone obviously but worth looking at what you can change (even on one gig) to go along with the guidelines here and see what happens.

  14. Yes but they are going to lose the good commited sellers. The ones that do this full time because it provides a good income. They will look elswhere for a job as fiverr is not sustainable anymore. The marketplace will just become full of low-quality low-earners. Because the drop in income will make the good sellers leave.

I’m probably one of those committed sellers. When Fiverr income goes down (as it has done every so often ever since I started here), I go do something else. There have been countless times when the system has changed and every time people say what you have said. Yes, some sellers have left Fiverr, others have joined, some who were here got busier, others continued to work with a lower income.

Sellers are the life-blood of fiverr. If their income drops significantly they will be forced to quit fiverr and find a job elsewhere. This will result in them losing many good sellers who bring in a lot of money.

One thing Fiverr is not short of is Sellers. They could probably lose 25-50% of all sellers and not really notice any difference.

This will effect everyones income as everyones impressions will go down

Not everyone’s impressions can go down - there are always the same number of sellers on the first page of results. If you aren’t there, someone else is.

  16. There are two kinds of performance that Fiverr keeps track of:

    A) performance as a seller (converting prospects into buyers)

I am getting sick of students asking me to do their school work. 🤨

Lately, I have had an average of two “do my homework for me” requests per day. And if 3.0 does not like it when a seller does not convert prospects into buyers that is harmful to my account!

I have had an average of two “do my homework for me” requests per day. And if 3.0 does not like it when a seller does not convert prospects into buyers that is harmful to my account!

This is not an issue exclusive to just writers and tutors

I had an inquiry for a 90 day SEO plan today.

They wanted it to be max 2 pages, within 3 days max.

I queried both of the requirements as it sounds very assignment-y to me.

After querying and then directly asking if it was an assignment, they said it wasn’t but then disappeared. These types of requests can be for almost any service so it’s important that people are watching out for unusual and specific requirements like the above.

Oh, and it was at 2am their time - exactly the time when a student struggling with an assignment would go looking for an easy way out.

  17. some new unique images

Just buy yourself a dozen new jumpers on Fiverr, problem solved!

seems like I hadn’t selected anything for the Gig Metadata (which I assume is new). I didn’t even know that this was added.

Regarding metadata, once I had issues with my gig, and discovered that somehow my language pairs (which I know I had chosen …) had been “reset” to nothing. Retrospectively, I thought, the most probable reason other than a very random bug, is that it somehow happened when they made some category update. I think it makes sense to check one’s gigs at every such update to make sure that all metadata are still there/as one wants them, even if one thinks one doesn’t want to change anything when reading about the category update.

Regarding metadata, once I had issues with my gig, and discovered that somehow my language pairs

Yep, there’s been a couple of issues about those including removing the language pairings altogether at one point!

  18. Have to say, after an amazing start with them getting $300 of orders in my first $10, I have not had another order with a further $30 spent. Still a great return (considering the first $10 was free) but still, I am monitoring it daily now where before I was just letting it be for a week.

Same here. The first orders were great, but since then I barely got any leads, and most of them are for academic assignments or stuff outside of the TOS…

most of them are for academic assignments or stuff outside of the TOS…

I’ve got a few 10,000 words for $10 type requests.

My Marketing gig got a lot of impressions and Clicks from being promoted but no messages and no orders. It’s surprising considering that gig specifically encourages messaging me to discuss their needs. Given the cost per click of that I have decided to stop promoting it and will have to consider how to change it or whether it is worth doing.

  19. and the messages I do get don’t seem to be related to my gig at all which hasn’t happened for the last month or so at leas

Hmm, I am pretty sure that category update is to blame for this. I am dealing with the same issue. Same with the clicks.

I can only assume our gigs are shown to more people, but they are less relevant.

Hmmm, I wonder if that would also apply to Promoted gigs; are they being shown to more less relevant people.

  20. My hypothesis is that there is another hidden metric that calculates how many of the buyers that contact us via the inbox, we are able to convert to customers either via custom offer or a regular purchase.

I could definitely see that being a thing since that would make more sense to focus on than relying on a single metric for conversion.

On that note, the last 3 - 4 days have been pretty weird for me. I’m getting almost no new messages or orders from new clients and the messages I do get don’t seem to be related to my gig at all which hasn’t happened for the last month or so at least. Weirdly enough, I’m getting more clicks on my gig than usual.

Exactly the same. All gigs are getting more impressions and clicks than they have since I came back a month ago but few orders and messages
