  1. Is your successful competitor charging lower or higher prices? Does he have better portfolio samples? Either way, save your old description somewhere, like a word document, just in case the new description doesn’t deliver results.
  2. I’m not sure what you mean. Success on Fiverr requires a lot of trial and error, and even if you create a perfect gig that’s popular today, it might not be popular tomorrow. My advice is to have a mixture of gigs, some for a general audience (logos), others for a niche audience (hotel logos), sometimes gigs that don’t relate. There are writers who can design logos for example (I’m not one of them). Just remember to avoid the definition of insanity: doing the same thing and expecting a different result. If what you’re doing isn’t working, do something else.
  3. Well, I don’t know about those numbers. Refunds do lower the row where you appear, so instead of appearing on row 1, you might appear on row 4, or page 2, it depends. Negative reviews aren’t as bad as refunds, unless your overall rating falls below 4.7. I think being above 90% in Order Completion Rate is easier than being above 4.7. Could be worst, the minimum standard used to be 4.8. As for going offline, don’t know what you mean. I never log out from Fiverr. I might put my computer to sleep, but I check it on my phone at least once a day. I don’t know if Fiverr puts me offline. Maybe you mean going on vacation? That might create a sales slump for a few days, after you return from vacation. My advice is find an alternative to Fiverr when things are bad.
  4. Thank you, but do message before ordering. That’s the one gig where I can’t accept all orders. Yes, the level system is extremely disruptive. The good news is that bad things can correct themselves even if you get no orders. My stats are perfect now not because I’ve had a ton of orders and 5-star reviews, but because enough time has passed to undo low reviews and refunds. Of course, with only a few orders this month, any refund or low review might cause me to get demoted again. So who knows?
  5. I’m not doing that well. I was demoted all the way to level 0 (although not at once), and only recently got back to level 1. Yes, I paused some gigs during the demotion. Even as a level 1, some of my gigs remain paused. Once I achieve level 2, I’ll unpause the rest. Here’s a funny story, there was a gig that wasn’t getting any sales, so I paused it, and then decided to activate another gig that had been paused. That activated gig is getting orders.
  6. Thanks for quoting me. 🙂 Self-promotion is very tricky, for example, bloggers will ban you if your name is a website domain. So it’s better to call yourself Peter Parker than Peter Parker dot com.
  7. I think they still do that. I just notice my 4.3 rating increased to 4.4, and I haven’t gotten a good review (or any reviews) in days.
  8. Suppose your 60-day rating is 4.7, and you deliver that order, he gives you 1 star, even 3 stars will make your rating drop to 4.6. Then you get demoted and your orders fall by 50%, maybe more. How will you feel then? The old Fiverr was better. My order completion rate was 87% and I was making $1,500 to $2,000 a month. Then came the level system, and I lost everything.
  9. It depends on what you’re selling. If you fix wordpress errors, then the errors are either fixed or unfixed, so unless the buyer is a crook, you will get paid and get a good review. If you write songs, design logos, illustrate children’s books, then it’s a question of having portfolio samples and attracting the people that like your samples. Even then, there’s a danger they won’t like your work. Those gigs are risky.
  10. Is the annoying message stopping you from creating a gig? If it isn’t, then the message is not important. Maybe Fiverr is testing a new feature for the future. Either way, taking tests doesn’t hurt. If you score low, you can choose not to display the result. If you score higher, then show everyone how well you did. I’m proud I scored 9/10 of English Language and Basic English.
  11. There are two possibilities. The seller doesn’t have stock footage of black people. Some sellers have a limited number of footage that they use for every order, and have no desire to purchase additional footage. The seller assumed you will never need his services again, so blocked you to end the conversation. Was it rude? Maybe, but it’s 100% the sellers prerogative. Remember, here on Fiverr, each of us has the freedom to reject orders, reject clients, etc. I accept almost every order, other colleagues don’t want to do alcohol, pork, adult, MLM’s, politics, etc. We have the right to discriminate, what Fiverr doesn’t allow is personal attacks. Sellers can reject orders like this: “I’m sorry, I’m unable to work on this project.” “I can’t help you, I lack the stock footage you desire.” “Sorry, this isn’t my area of expertise.” “I apologize, but I don’t feel comfortable writing about this topic.” If they won’t take “no” for an answer, you can block them.
  12. That’s not the issue. The issue is I want to buy on Fiverr, and a seller is selling for $10, I place an order, and end up paying $12. Then I give a $5 tip, and end up paying $7. On Amazon, if I see $10, I pay $10 or $10 plus the sales tax (depends) or $10 plus shipping (except I have Prime, so I rarely pay for shipping). It’s true that the $2 fee applies whether you’re paying $5 or $500, but is it right to have those fees when sellers are already paying 20%? Those fees didn’t exist before. Think of it this way. If I make money on Fiverr, and then spend money buying gigs on Fiverr, that’s a win for Fiverr, so why charge me a $2 fee? Why not reward my loyalty?
  13. I understand that sellers have to pay 20%, but I don’t see why buyers are charged fees. I order something for $10, costs me $12. Then give a $5 tip, costs me $7. So I end up paying $19, when I could have paid $15 while the seller ends up making $12 (15 - 20% = 12), while Fiverr makes money from the fees and the 20%. I am glad we’re not charging $1 to withdraw our money to PayPal, but if I had to choose between paying $1 for PayPal or $4 in fees, the choice is obvious.
  14. Don’t know what optical character means. All I know is that today I delivered 3 orders, and I’m betting tomorrow I’m getting 2-4 orders. Then again, maybe I get 0 orders because I have one order I haven’t been able to deliver. I don’t know if the guy wants a brand name for a wedding registry or a brand name he can register in America. I wished I had asked him that question 24 hours ago, but alas, I only read instructions when I’m ready to work, not before.
  15. This is true. What is OCR? Sales go up and down all the time. At one time sales were very steady and sure on fiverr, at least for me, but the past year I see huge variations from day to day in the number of sales. Many things are factored into your number of sales now. Order Completion Rate. They do, not to mention my superstition that if you don’t deliver everything in 1-2 days, you stop getting orders. For example, yesterday I got 4 orders and delivered 1. Today I got 1 order, and will be delivering 2. This has helped me avoid the “no sales” days.
  16. I think that is a myth that everyone spreads to make it feel ok. I’ve been on fiverr for over 3 years and I have a couple dozen friends that have also been on it and we have never experienced it once we reached level 2 and were established… We sort of laugh about it because we all kept expecting it to happen and it never did. And to be clear, I’m not saying that they don’t shuffle search and that it cant hurt a bit, but literally never had a period without orders, impressions, inquiries, or money. Not once after getting level 2. Nevertheless, when you are a new seller and you make the jump to level 1 most expectations are misaligned with the reality that ends up happening and it can be crushing. Simply knowing that it is common can help people deal with it and press on instead of beating themselves up, questioning their legitimacy, and giving up. That is what this thread is for. Yesterday I was a level 2, and got one order. Today I’m level 1, and got three orders. My point is that if you work on the fundamentals, such as delivering ahead of schedule, having a high OCR, getting good reviews, etc, you will see good results eventually or you will have to promote your gigs all over the internet. I’m too self-conscious to promote my gigs, so that’s not an option for me. My point is I had 14 gigs, had to pause 4, and today I made more money than yesterday. I didn’t even lower my prices.
  17. That happens to everyone regardless of level. Besides, the real hell is getting demoted, having to pause gigs, maybe having to change prices because some levels don’t allow the prices you were using. Don’t worry, you’ll be level 2 before you know it, just make sure you keep all your numbers green (OCR, 60 day rating, etc). If one of them falls in the red and you can’t lift it before the 15th, that gets you demoted.
  18. I tried it once, but then turned it right off. I only tried it with one gig, and even though I have lots of gigs, I’m not getting 10 orders from 10 different gigs a day. I get 1-3 orders a day, sometimes 0 orders for two or three days. Also, the Friday curse seems to be over. Nowadays, I’m getting orders on Fridays.
  19. There is a “bias”, yes, but it is based upon seller levels. The higher your seller level, the less restrictions there are on orders in queue that are gained from the search results. If a Level 1 seller has, say 17 orders, this would likely be due to them bringing in their own customers from outside Fiverr – because, I know for a fact that if a Level 1 seller has 17 orders, their gig is likely to have been temporarily removed from the search results. Seventeen orders in queue is well above the Level 1 search system order queue restriction. Are you saying that as a level 2, Fiverr is treating you better than level 1? I have noticed I’m making more money now that I’m level 2, compared to last month when I was level 1, even though my prices are the same.
  20. Yes, it’s weird how that is. Why do some buyers have 17 orders in their queues while others have to deliver what they got before they get new ones? Must be a bias from the algorithm.
  21. Have you refunded any orders recently? Refunds hurt your gig ranking, so do bad reviews, but I think bad reviews weight less than refunds.
  22. You mean nationality issue, not a race issue. Nationality is not race.
  23. I’m glad to hear you’re still going to get the money you have earned. P.S. If you ever open an account again (after the 90 days, after getting your money), I recommending using something that’s memorable. Artist66 or DrunkenPainter, it should be related with what you do. When I see m4hdyar, I have no idea how to pronounce it. I suppose I would have to call you Mr. M.
  24. I was updating one of my gigs (radio) and saw this message: Please note: Some categories require that sellers verify their skills. What does that mean? How do I verify my skills? I haven’t heard from CS on that.
