New to Fiverr and need some advice!

Hello,

I am new to Fiverr and super excited to start working. What would be some general tips for an illustrator on here? What are the best ways to promote your services?

I took a quick look at your profile:

Your profile image: No suggestions.
Your one-line statement that appears on the profile page, directly below your user name: No suggestions.
Your profile text – note the edits:

Hi, I’m a Southern California based illustrator who works mainly in watercolor, pencil, and ink. Please message me before any orders so we can discuss your specific request. I look forward to working with you. -[Name Buyers Should Call You]

You should probably add the “message me” message to all your gigs, and use the word “because” to increase Buyer compliance. Read Influence by Robert Cialdini for an explanation, if you’re curious.

You have no gigs on display, so I’m not sure whether you plan to offer physical illustrations that you intend to ship to the Buyer. I recommend against that route, as Fiverr is intended as a digital platform. If you do want to offer physical products, I recommend that you offer them as premium packages, and give your Buyers the option to order digital illustrations.

You might design gigs around the fact that you work in watercolor, pencil, and ink, but I’d also recommend that you build your gigs around whatever software packages (if any) you use to create your illustrations.

All your gigs should have video, 3 images, 2 pdfs (for more samples and your business policies), and so on…

Make a video of yourself talking to the camera, because this approach garners IMMEDIATE RESULTS. Include additional samples in the video!

Engage your common sense. Not every suggestion here will work for you. You are responsible for your results, so you should test everything and adjust for your own best results.

As a general rule, when I have time to participate in the Fiverr Forum and I notice a request like yours in the “Improve My Gig” section, I am willing and able to look at a Seller’s Profile and one gig one time.

I can give you a better level of assistance if you first work your way through the checklist below. That way, I won’t waste your one turn by advising you to follow items on the checklist.

If you haven’t already read Strengths Finder 2.0 and taken that assessment, I suggest you do so, because it should give you the language to express your strengths and help you to brainstorm some gigs for which you are especially well qualified. Check out the writing of Chris Guillebeau and Tim Ferriss. By Josh Kaufman, I recommend The First 20 Hours: How to Learn Anything… Fast! and The Personal MBA. Also, you could read Influence by Robert Cialdini and Get Anyone to Do Anything by David J. Lieberman.
