Can negative reviews be good?

HI Fiverr Family,

I just thought I would stop by and write a post on "Can negative reviews be good?"

Now let’s get this one thing straight no seller wants negative reviews, I think we would agree on that.
But what is the best thing to do when you receive a Negative Review or have an Unhappy buyer?

Well I like to look at it like this - When you get a negative review it gives us the opportunity to have a paradigm shift.

What is a paradigm? [pronounced para-dime]
A paradigm is a model, a perception or understanding. It is only by seeing things based on the correct principles that we achieve success and happiness.

Here is some insight on having a paradigm shift from Stephen Covey the Author of the book – 7 habits of highly effective people.

In order to understand paradigms, Covey encourages us to think of them as maps. They aren’t the solution, merely a representation of how to get somewhere.

For example, suppose you have arrived in a New York and you need to get to a meeting. You need a map to find the venue. Imagine you have received a map of California that is incorrectly titled ‘New York’.

Even though you have the wrong map you could:
• Work on your behavior – Try harder and work faster.
RESULT: You get nowhere faster’

• Change your attitude – Think positive and be happy.
RESULT – You are happy but still aren’t going to find your meeting.

• SOLUTION – YOU NEED THE CORRECT MAP!

What is a paradigm shift, and how do you make one?

A paradigm shift is a change in the way you perceive something.

Paradigm shifts can be positive or negative and create powerful changes in our lives. It is our paradigms that determine our attitudes and behavior and ultimately our relationships with others.

Having a paradigm shift is being able to see the same thing in a different way. Example seeing a challenge and making it an opportunity.

For example, you’ve probably already seen this drawing – What do you see when you look at this picture?

Duck-or-Rabbit.png.708fc483aa4eee6dd892bcc79c0cfa89.png

Some may say I see a duck and others may say I see a rabbit. Well it all depends on how you look at it.

We can both be seeing the same thing and still see something different.

Yes no one wants an unhappy customer, order cancellations because of an unhappy buyer or even a negative review, but if it does happen, how will we look at it?

What do you see when you see a negative review?

One may say I see a problem and one may say I see an opportunity.

You may say how can a negative review be an opportunity? Well it can be an opportunity for us to get better and improve our gigs, our customer service, or even our skills, so that another customer will not have to experience the same thing the unhappy customer has experienced.

This can also be applied to a gig that is not getting the sales that we thought it would get. Is it a problem or is it an opportunity to see how we can make the gig better?

So the bottom line is, try and use the situation as an opportunity to get better and improve. I heard someone once say don’t get bitter get better.

I guess the question we should as our selves is - is it a problem or is it an opportunity?

Ok thanks for taking the time read this post (blog) lol and I hope it helps someone out.

Negative reviews aren’t good, but they can be useful since new buyers will always look for negative reviews. You can use your response to the buyer’s bad review to highlight something useful, explain something about your service, or even to emphasize the importance of communicating with the seller when the buyer doesn’t like the finished product.
