If I ran Fiverr for 1 week, I wouldn’t change much…they’ve really knocked it out of the park with changes since they began and I first began using them…But if I had to add or change ANYTHING…?

It would be:

  1. Coming up with a FAIR Project/Gig Sign Off 3 part System of Approval for Projects. Fiverr knows what i’ve sent them.
This would STOP all of the fraud coming from buyers and sellers…Making The Order & Delivery Process one that be
TRANSPARENT…and WITHOUT QUESTION that the project was completed to the Buyers & Sellers SATISFACTION!
Eliminating the whole NOT SATISFIED with work issue that we all have quite often. Once you sign off…End Of Story! WIN/WIN

  2. Make it MANDATORY that ANYONE claiming to be a Developer/CODER/HTML & CSS Specialist/Professional in many selected popular fields…That they have a FIVERR Judged Panel of Experts Judging them BEFORE they become a Fiverr Seller…on A Small Skills Test utilizing Basic To Moderate Knowledge in a Profession!!! Simply because there are TOO Many Financially Stable Members here that are TOP SELLERS…who have NO SKILL AT ALL…while the Truly Gifted and Talented Sellers here are steadily NOT getting orders, Inquiries, or the Algorithm to fall in their favor. Just My 2 Cents! We Should Be Top Sellers…with 25-100 Orders In Our Ques…I’m Just saying. Not venting…This Is A Reality! Thanks For Listening Guy’s and Gal’s.😍

Other than these 2 things…Fiverr Is A Platform For The Ages!

I think I have an idea now…

When the buyer hits the modification button the second time ( or send any messages
asking for a revision the second time) , they automatically get
charged for a gig. I give free revisions once ONLY if I misunderstood or made a mistake,
or something simple like changing a color or something.
There are always buyers who try to squeeze in minor BUT multiple revisions and not pay
for it. Even though those revisions might be minor, they can add up pretty quickly.

How about adding a virtual starbucks where we can purchase virtual goods while we work with our hard earned fiverr funds?

@silberma1976 Your idea gave me an idea. I probably wouldn’t use a virtual store for sellers unless it was using some extra “tokens” we got as goodies for doing something helpful or getting 100 reviews or something. However, you made me think of something.

Maybe Fiverr should still refund buyers as buyer credit, same as now, but if the buyer doesn’t find a user for them within 60 days - they could apply them in the Fiverr store for t-shirts, mugs, whatever. That would still put money in Fiverr’s pocket which helps sellers since Fiverr success is our success, it would increase advertising via Fiverr-gear, and it would give buyers another outlet if they’ve already used up their one return-to-source refund.

Speaking of that - to @rpmcars who wanted a refund, did you ask? Normally Fiverr will return your credit on a one-time basis. After that they expect you to stick by ToS, but they do offer that. https://forum.fiverr.com/t/refunds-for-buyers-getting-funds-back-to-your-account-is-it-ever-possible

Wow, that’s a very good question, I would like to change a lots of things like:

  1. Banning all questionable gigs (Like selling wishes, spells, stars and other imaginary stuff which people actually believes in, personally I find them completely useless and scamming) just my opinion
  2. Create Fiverr platforms for all countries, languages around the world for example Fiverr.ro (Romania) and let all the people from those countries to sell gigs in their own language and not only English
  3. Daily FEATURE different, good and quality gigs. I see some featured gigs for months since I’ve joined here. It would be great to also see others gigs featured
  4. Create special boosts for LVL2 sellers and top rated to boost once a day one gig in the top searches
  5. Focus more on mobile/tablet apps. People use more often their devices than PCs to order so this should be a priority to let them order easily and get what they want in no time

have a FIVERR Judged Panel of Experts Judging them BEFORE they become a Fiverr Seller…on A Small Skills Test

That’s good business practice, but I guess it will hurt the USP of Fiverr.

The startup was created to disrupt the ‘mainstream’, which includes traditional freelance sites where a seller’s fortunes are dependent on a proficiency test. The more Fiverr tries to become like them, the more they move away from their USP. The whole system is built on an ‘anyone, anywhere’ vibe, so they have kept user checks to a minimum.

They had a certain target audience which they wanted to target (which was exclusive of the market of professional freelancers which the other platforms had already cornered) and it is this crowd which would be alienated if Fiverr introduces credibility checks. Although there are professionals who sell on Fiverr, their degrees and certifications do not add any weight to their profile, unlike other freelance sites. I think, this is done by deliberate design, because the bulk of sellers here are not from a formally trained background.

“You want to offer a service but don’t have enough paperwork to make it big in a real job or other freelance sites, come to Fiverr and try your luck. If you make it big, good on you. If not, you had nothing to lose anyway” - Real mission statement.

Hence the large number of mek sels trying their luck.

Banning all questionable gigs

Even I noticed that Fiverr’s definition of ‘questionable’ has a higher tolerance threshold than other platforms. I was unsure about whether or not gambling/casino related gigs are against the TOS, but when I used the searchbar, I figured that Fiverr actually has a dedicated category for it (gambling || betting || poker), and of course, your favorite : magic spells.

The results so far have been very successful. We will soon be able to move onto part IV of the masterplan, mein, uh, my leader.

Nice satire infused post. Just offensive enough to tickle the sellers but staff might need to add extra sugar to their coffee today.

Btw, all of this while you’ve had a mostly pleasant experience of CS actually siding with you on various disputes with buyers, or shall I say, the privilege of actually having someone read your messages. There are people here, who have had less than ideal resolutions of their issues due to canned messages.

Okay, more sugar please…

Nothing. Fever is not perfect, in fact, there is a lot wrong with this platform, but it is still the best there is. I wouldn’t change a thing - except maybe support for PayPal chargebacks.

I wouldn’t change a thing - except maybe

Both sides of the fence, neither here, nor there…

Buyers Request

I would fix buyers request system so that only genuine job requests get posted and spammers ousted. Would also assign a 3-5 person team to each category so its not all on a single person or one group. Add a section for large projects for when Buyers are looking for more than one person to help get the work done, they can post everything at once instead of in several different posts. I would also have ‘Buyers Request’ properly translated into as many languages as possible.

Payment System

Enact a system that provides a balance of sorts between buyers and sellers. Something similar to escrow where funds will only be released once work is successfully delivered and confirmation of such is provided by BOTH parities [buyer and seller]. This should hopefully enable faster payouts and processing times.

Rating System

Keep it as simple as possible. Maybe enable a smiley face system, similar to thumbs up/down, where you have a 🙂. After the rating a critique can be left for the seller; no secret message box.

That is a solution to reduce the clearing period which doesn’t put any more risk on Fiverr than the current system. 🙂

Okay, more sugar please…

I understand completely the business model…and WHY fiverr was created…Its A Brilliant Model!..I was just speaking from experience, Fiverr should have a system in place here that Protects its sellers from intentional fraud on the part of buyers wanting greatness for free…and from seller who don’t do what the buyer has asked and send then a final gig…that is NOTHING like what they asked and PAID for. The skills test, I get it…but it would be a small success for fiverr with REALLY Design or Technically skilled based gigs. Thats a WIN/WIN for all involved…it speaks to credibility!!! Fairness!!! also, Great Business Transparency!!!🙂 Not only would it work, but as a company Fiverr lets everyone know that they are NOT like so many other platforms who allow their sellers and buyers to taken advantage of…like ebay and so many other MARKETPLACE platforms. The customer isn’t always right and neither is a seller. This is why fiverr always tells us to try and work things out with your buyer, BEFORE contacting them. Sometimes it works perfectly and a resolution can be attained, while other time it doesn’t. The system I was referring to, eliminates all the bad, and ushers in a NEW addition to the already great platform of Fiverr, by Making the 3-4 part/step Verification and Approval System a reality. sellers cannot say they want a refund days after or complain something wasn’t done to their satisfaction…If the System shows that THEY SIGNED OFF that they APPROVED of the work in the project!!! Sellers also, wouldn’t be able to be shady to buyers…and simply NOT deliver what the buyer has asked and PAID for, simply because of this CREDIBILITY and Acceptance Approval System…Everyone wins…and the fraud on both sides…Is Non-Existent. Fiverr wins the biggest. It was just my 2 cents. glad to have great feedback.

Mmmm, IDK. I never had any occasion to mail them prior to becoming a TRS (there was a definite leap in expectation once I got the badge; took me a while to match to it/learn how to swat it down). That said, I just ask for a second opinion if I get the robots. 99% of the time though, it’s dreary stuff like “your to-do list is borked, plz fix” or “can you fix my response rate AGAIN plz” or a devatating rip-down of a 1-star idiot and their review. So I see all the responses as well. Half the time even when stuff goes my way it starts off with the old favorite “…just this once, we have made a very, very special exception, just for you!”. Yeah, no. Time to write some more canspam.

If a buyer asks for things not in the gig description after they order they not only get their gig cancelled without any penalty to the seller but they get $5 automatically deleted from their account.

I love this idea. I also love the idea of a stream of incredibly angry people coming into the forum to get shot down in a hailstorm of  and mockery. Hear us mortals, o Fiverr Gods!

Remove every illegal video template - whether it’s using Minions, Cats & Dogs, etc. or something from a website which requires each video template to be purchased once at a much greater cost than $5 for each video produced.

It’s not fair on the buyers who think they’re purchasing something completely legal, and sadly they’re not.

There are a lot of problems with number 2. Forcing a test for certification will do a lot of harm and will come off as too much of a hassle and the potential new seller will just go to another platform. A panel of judges won’t help and will likely result in fees for buyers and sellers to offset the costs of hiring such people.

The video feature should suffice to showcase the sellers work along with links to their portfolios (if allowed, the link thing is still confusing). Even though the test thing is for a single category, it won’t take long for it to spread to other categories as there have been several too many buyers requesting this feature as if it’s a tell-tale of a sellers true abilities.

1 is a good one.

Thanks topaz_muse…When I say Panel of experts…I mean Fiverr Staff who know what’s what. I definitely understand what people are saying…many don’t experience what I’m speaking about here but those who’ve been victims understand what I was saying. Credibility goes a long way with me and most people.

There’s nothing more frustrating than for example: asking for a logo design for a new business to be created by a "Professional", paying good money, only to get a cookie-cutter design cranked out from a logo design software…SMH…that’s just NOT good business. So that’s what my post was speaking to concerning the Short Skills Test. It was just a suggestion…probably won’t happen…but I pray that The guys and Gals at Fiverr take into consideration the Approval System I suggested a few times in the past. It’s A Great Idea.

By Submitting a 1st Draft of the Project before moving on with the work/project/gig…if the buyer approves, then the project continues and the COMPLETED version is then Delivered with BOTH parties signing off on the Project’s Completion. Therefore…No Need for endless revisions that the buyer keeps requesting, asking for 5 changes when a gig clearly says 2. THis would change so many issues we all have, had even buyers. Thanks for listening topaz_muse.💡

Haha I guess even the canned messages have started getting creative.

I created a ticket yesterday which I had ended with :

“The last time I faced a similar issue, I got a less than ideal resolution despite following the recommended protocol, because the buyer did not understand the technicalities. Could you please investigate this issue and resolve it swiftly”,

that was my way of saying “don’t send me canned messages like you did last time” while still being polite, professional and constructive, like the TOS recommends.

In the past, I’ve got this response :

“please understand that we cannot force the buyer to accept the order”

but this time, they’ve added one more line :

“we cannot force the buyer to understand what you are trying to explain”.

That genuinely made me chuckle.

I guess that proves that CS are human too. Even they are stuck with a protocol they are required to follow without being rude to anyone, just like we are. So they probably slip in a line sometimes to let us know that they are able to read between the lines and know that the buyer is being naughty, but cannot say it outright.

I wonder how their SOs feel about dating people in CS jobs?

SO : I love you.

CS : Thank you for bringing this to our notice. May I request you to please review all your previous communication and provide screenshots to support your claim.

SO : 😘

CS : In doers we trust.

  1. I would update the rating system to reflect eBay’s.

  2. Would make Buyers ratings display on their profile for full transparency and fairness.

  3. Add the ‘flag’ feature on Buyers Request section to bring attention to spam requests, self promotions, etc. type “requests” so that users can help bring attention to these requests to be reviewed/removed by Fiverr CS.

Is it possible to get the Buyers Request suggestion put in place possibly within the next week or so?
