Does a VIDEO really sell more?

I like videos on voice over (practically mandatory, I mean who’s going to order from you, if they don’t know what you sound like) and translation gigs.

There were a few people with videos in the translation gigs and liked it. It let me know they really are native speakers.

I do NOT bother clicking on the animation/whiteboard videos. It’s all the same and boring.

Well you can give it try and see if this works. But i have experienced it myself that when you upload a video on your profile, it actually does increases the views, impressions and clicks.

Oh really? Perhaps I’d give it a shot

I had thought about a video for that very reason, made one, uploaded, to see what it would look like, but took it off again after half an hour or so, but finally decided against it for now (thanks for the very nice offer to awesomize it, yes, you! ;)) I don´t like to get buyers asking me to s***e for gigs that clearly need no skyping.

Generally I think it depends on the category really, for some it seems a must, for some it might help, for others buyers will probably prefer to just click through still images, it´s faster and (depending on the video of course) less boring. And of course, as several people already said, better no video than a bad video.

It does not increase sales. Not in my case at least. Moreover, the gig presentation in the search results which includes video is horrible. A huge semi-transparent projector icon in the middle of gig thumbnail - that looks awful. It should be a nice ribbon in the corner or something like that.

Agreed! I can’t see the gig.

Well for us graphic designers it might need a different approach. Most of our Clients want to SEE what we can design not watch us in a video talking about our services. When buyers search for Logo designers , what catches their attention mostly is the type of Logos displayed. I once uploaded a video on my best selling gig, that time i had only 4 orders completed. The video thingy never worked for me. Buyers are not attracted to your gig by a Huge Play Button ovelaying a thumbnail. I took the video away and staryed marketing my gig until now. It might work for you though,
