sellers could do crappy job

What you say about Buyer - Who do ask to seller for provide extra service without paying extra cost - Which do not offered in gig. still buyer do buy that gig and most of the time Buyer do buy without Read Seller gig description. Sorry friend - I found most of the time Buyers are crappy within my 4 year fiverr career - 😉

That seems a rather unfair thing to say when you’ve obviously done really well from Fiverr, and have fabulous reviews.

You must have had some really good buyers as well?

Would love to see this. But as stated in your post “The buyer is more important that the seller”. I don’t think they will ever implement this feature. Multiple times I have contacted customer care about this unfair feature which lets buyers abuse sellers, but unfortunately they seem to care less!

This might be a suitable point to add that all potential and past buyers can see everything on the forum, whether they’re logged in or not.

Please remember that your Fiverr reputation can be helped or hindered by what you say on the forum, and indeed, the way you say it.

Would you deal with a seller who describes their buyers as ‘crappy’, ‘abusive’ etc.?😉

N.B. This isn’t aimed at any poster in particular.

Whew! Thank goodness buyers are not allowed to read this forum. Can you just imagine what they would think?

they ordered 100 gigs and 90% were cancelled, you need to flag and do something about that buyer

Absolutely. I think both buyers and sellers cancellation rate should be displayed.

Definitely tongue in cheek there! 😉

I don’t understand your argument about denying buyers by showing metrics that will provide guidance to sellers about how they have handled business on the platform before. The fact is, dishonest buyers are already doing damage behind the scenes, all this would be doing is bringing that to light for the whole community. If a dishonest buyer thinks twice before ordering anything, how is that a financial loss to the site when the buyer would have done everything in their power to avoid paying ANYWAY? If anything, it would save sellers some heartache, time and effort spent in attempting to get money that they would have almost zero chance of getting in the first place. This is so important because these sellers could be using this wasted time to actually MAKE money from legitimate buyers, which clearly benefits the site too.

From another angle, why would an honest buyer be discouraged from ordering because their activities are being tracked? Because they might be labelled as a bad buyer when in reality they are just serious about getting the best value for their money? So, although they need the service, they would not order because of the possibility of being branded incorrectly, which is something that they have significant control over? In most cases, all they need to do is behave. Even if we look at that as plausible, there is another issue: are buyers rated on similar sites like Upwork (the last time I checked Upwork, that was a yes)? If this is generally a yes and is therefore expected by buyers who use these platforms, why not Fiverr too?

Ebay and pretty much every other major buying/selling platform has a rating system that allows Sellers to rate Buyers and it’s public. If you’re not a bad buyer, their is nothing to worry about. However, rating users and allowing it to be public for others to see holds Buyers accountable for current and future actions––how they treat/speak to Sellers (ie. other human beings).

Some people think they because they’re a paying customer (this happens everywhere but is 1000% worse online) they can treat the other person helping them like garbage, (ie. call them names, bully them, harass, threaten, etc.) to get what they want no matter how they treat the other person.

It’s worse online because of the feeling of anonymity. The anonymous feature can and does bring out the worst of human nature. Bad buyers only “get away” with it and keep treat sellers a certain way because their ratings aren’t public to Sellers.

Sellers are blind to the kind of person they’re working with. It should be fair and balanced. It’s the right thing to do. Plus, it would be nice to see who a Buyer has worked with in the past review feedback and learn their strengths/weakness to better work with them on any order with them one may have. Seller would definitely be more detailed in their reviews if they were public (in a good way) so other Sellers can benefit from the feedback.

I urge sellers to see this as an opportunity to develop their natural latent psychic and intuitive abilities. We all have them. When you talk to lots of various people every day you can find that you get a good sense of who you are dealing with very quickly. Nothing can match this built in ability we have, which we have had since the beginning of time, to alert us to potential problems. Learn to listen to the inner voice.
Sometimes you won’t know why alarm bells are going off. But pay attention.

But still we are required to work for anyone who pays. It’s not optional unless there is a real problem with the order.

I’ve had a very bad experience with one buyer once. I was requested to change a part of an existing drawing and I offered unlimited revisions and buyer just kept asking me to do revisions until I completely redrew the whole drawing and even twice! I was on my 9th revision when I finally had enough of this and cancelled the order, basically gifting the buyer all the works I did and over of 2 days worth of work. Now that buyer wants to order from me again. How do I deal with this? How can I refuse to work with this buyer without hurting my ratings by cancelling orders?

Never offer unlimited revisions!

Decide on a sensible number, and stick to it, otherwise you could be open to a life of misery! 🙂

Send the buyer a note saying:

I cannot accept any more orders from you. I did much more work the last time than I was paid for so I am going to suggest that you find another seller who can better meet your needs. Thank you for understanding.

Nine revisions is much too many so you need to set a limit in your gig description. The artist I use has a limit of 5. It was partially your fault for having unlimited revisions. Some people will take advantage of that.

If any seller do reply this kind for buyer… Do you know , what happen after that. the buyer do report against seller behavior at support and will give negative rating on every previous order…

after you will not get any help from anywhere… Cs always do favor buyer not seller.

Hello fast_editing,

there is nothing wrong at all with sending this kind of note to a buyer.

I’m not sure why you think this would cause the seller a problem. It’s not against the rules to let a buyer know you can’t work for them.

This System should be Implemented, at least the Buyer cancellation should be visible on Buyer’s profile.

Be honest with them––if working with them previously was unpleasant and not worth your while tell them you’re no longer interested in working with them. Be polite, yet firm and clear in your communication with them when it comes to expressing your issues/concerns.

Sometimes a Buyer will “fess up” and realize they were unreasonable in their previous order and ask for a second chance (you were a great seller, which is why they came back) to work with you.

If you’d like try and work with them one more time to see if things get better, be clear prior to their order that you won’t be offering revisions without the purchase of the ‘revision Gig’ and that you don’t work for free. Any additional work they request in any order otherwise will need to be paid for.

Good luck!

I’m with you. 100%!! I’d love to see that feature. But you know what, buyers with bad reviews would just go ahead and create new accounts…

At least we are aware that they are new buyer 🙂

If they enjoy the services provided, it’s just too much of a hassle to create new account every time they need to get a service.

I feel really unjustified that we can’t see buyer’s rating just because they are more being prioritised by Fiverr.

fiverr is a great platform no doubt. But it has a number of flaws that make life quite challenging for us good folk 🙂

Just to mention a few:

  • It takes CS ages to respond to matters that are important to users
  • Response rate is buggy (good thing it does not matter much). but still…
  • The buyer is more important that the seller. This means that a seller will almost always lose when pitted against a buyer.

Now, on that last point, I think a buyer rating system will be of great help to the seller. As it is, only buyer reviews on seller pages are visible. Unfortunately, sellers can only respond to these reviews, and they are not visible on the buyer’s page.

We need to rate buyers too and these ratings need to be visible on the buyer’s profile page. This way, we can watch out for each other by telling/warning others about bad and fraudulent buyers. Needless to say, they are many and are running wild reining havoc and being a nightmare to sellers all over the planform.

@fiverr , please find a way of implementing this feature. Sellers are an important part of your ecosystem and should be taken care of too. Hoping to get some feedback about this.

Sellers, please raise your hand if you are with me

I’m starting to agree with this. Once in a while sellers run into a really crazy hateful dishonest mean buyer.

I am no psychic, but sometimes when I read that first line of the message from a prospective buyer, something in my head goes “Danger, Will Robinson! Danger!”

Sometimes I’m right. Sometimes I’m full of it. And when I don’t listen to it, there have been times I’ve definitely regretted it with a troublesome situation.

We wanted to be freelancers, right?

I totally agree with Fiverr putting a buyer rating system and is there any reason why Fiverr is not doing this ?
The seller has the right to know what kind of a buyer he/she is dealing with .
I just had my worst experience with my first gig whose buyer turns out to be a scam .
The buyer rating system will definitely save a lot of time for both sellers and the customer support team .

I totally agree. I’m a buyer, and I work hard to make sure that my gig specs and communication with sellers are precise and on time. Kindness goes a long way, too.

Being a good buyer–smart about what you ask for, clear in your specs, careful about how you give feedback–is key to the success of a gig, and --more important - building a professional relationship that you can depend on.
