There is no one right answer. What I tell people is to go where your customers are located. They are the ones that need your services. And where those customers are located is different for every seller.

Merely plastering links to your gigs on social media, and hoping someone clicks your random link, is not an effective marketing tactic.

I agree. I have been using social media, and it is like throwing wet paper mache against a wall. You keep throwing until you find what sticks. After tracking where my sales come from for over a month now by asking buyers when they purchase where they found me, zero sales have come from social media. This is my experience going to the places my buyers are and using FB’s wonderful targeting features.
