Onwards and Upwards: What Are Your Plans for 2017?

This is a fairly simple topic. 2016 is almost over, and starting to plan for a successful 2017 starts now! Well, for me it does, as I’ve reached my 2016 goal (double my income). Alternatively, you can whine about how bad Fiverr is and u hev no mek sell.

So, this is the post to make 2017 a year where you smash a few things up and overall improve your business, sex up your lovelife, loose a ton of weight and grow a six-pack and whatever other goals you might be pondering at this late stage of a rather unappetizing year in general.

I’ll start: I plan to purchase a few tools, books and courses very soon so I can launch my new video marketing/scriptwriting service sometime in January 2017. I am doing this now, as I will need to learn stuff and also practice skills and research what works and what doesn’t on Fiverr. Funny how that works before you even make your first dollar, eh, meksells?

I am also considering rebooting my eBooks on Amazon, but this time branching out into non-fiction books that solve a problem; erotica was fun and is giving me a nice monthly residual income, but I’m still burnt out from it. Additionally, I’ll be looking into how sites like Clickbank and JVZoo work as for product creators, and whether I need to build up an affiliate marketing presence as an affiliate myself (no experience, chaps!) in order to make $$$. Or $$. Or even just $. It will be my first year, so no biggie. I have already considered that Amazon eBooks can be used as a taster (whether free or for $2,99) with links to the sales page for the full product.

I’ll also be holding myself to read at least one copywriting thingy a month by a great (Halbert, Kennedy, that kinda stuff), but I’ve unsuccessfully made that promise a few years in a row. The point is, if I want to double my income again, I need to double my knowledge, offerings and skillset. Will I double it in 2017? Maybe, maybe not. 2017 for me is about building a business the right way. This all seems like a lot, but it’s really just 2-3 hours in the evening Mon-Fri. Manageable with my current schedule and without burnout. Plus, I’m starting this a month in advance for a headstart. Dem gainz.

As for Fiverr? Eh, I’ll obviously put those gigs up for the videos and stuff. I anticipate a pricing increase at sometime in the next year (as I intend to focus more on less bothersome income sources if/when they take off), but I still haven’t quite finished my redo from Sept/Oct, so that should be done first.

So, what are your plans? Remember, Fiverr is just a tool, and only bad workmen blame their tools. If you’d look underneath the gloss, you’d also know that the ship is a bit leaky with some of their top talent at the moment, so look after #1 and ensure that your income isn’t 100% tied up on here. That’s solid advice that you’d be foolish to ignore.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from a country that doesn’t give a shit about Xmas, thank God. You know it’s just a repurposed pagan festival that the church introduced in a PR drive to get people onboard and pay their tithes ‘n’ shit, right? Oh, you didn’t and I’ve blasphemed your religion? Go tell it to the various councils in the first few hundred years of AD, who were doing all this and getting rid of more mystical parts of the Bible books that were dangerously unmonolithic and demanded freethinking. Never trust that which tries to control you!

Thus ends one of the more interesting posts you’ll see on the forum tonight. Ultimately though, I want to know what your plans are and where you hope to be as 2018 comes around. We’ve got ~40 days and nights to think on this, just like Uncle Jesus.

So, spit it out. Or keep your secrets to yourself and look back next year as you realize you’ve not really achieved much at all–unlike me. Poor you.

You should make your expectations more realistic, as Death’s cold and clammy grip is rather insistent in the end. You see, you need to plan for all this to happen. You can “law of attraction” it into happening if you want to, but if you don’t put the effort into it, you’re relying on the fickle mistresses of luck and fortune, who tend to make bizarre choices at the best of times.

Incidentally, I read somewhere recently that “millionaires are the new middle class” (or words to that effect). Now, money doesn’t necessarily bring you happiness, but it certainly smooths out a lot of life’s more irritatingly persistent worries. In other words, it’s another tool.

I think the statement is true, as if you look at most western economies, the middle class is being squeezed. We are all working class now. Rising house prices, inflation, stagnating wages, an ongoing recession (we are still not recovered from 2008, and to be frank, I wouldn’t be surprised if that goes tits up again, the whole thing is corrupt)…

…compare that to the old middle class of, say, 100, 150 year ago. One breadwinner, a comfortable lifestyle. Servants. All the stuff that some social strata of developing economies of the world enjoy right now (yes, Writer, I’m looking at you and others like you). Work isn’t so much a necessity; with an inheritance, a good marriage and all the rest of it, a comfortable lifestyle awaits with work as a pleasant distraction.

Fiverr offers that in developing countries; in developed countries, it offers $5 (and more!). So while I can see where the desperation from meksell comes, their own lack of education and unwillingness to teach themselves firmly roots them where they are, rather than allowing them to progress.

And of course–none will read this, as they’re not even taking one small step of improving their English. Basic shit, guys. Basic shit. Make that your 2017 goal. Go to school, get a partner. Focus on business words. You’ll open up a world of information and growth. You’ll change your life and your family’s life.

But no, you want to bleat like a moron instead. Step out! The worst of you can’t accept criticism at all and lash out, compounding your inadequacy. You don’t have to remain inadequate. You’re welcome to, as it makes it easier for the rest of us. So… ya know?

You don’t need to become a millionaire to be middle class, unless you want to live in a country where that’s become the case. You are a free person. You can do a lot of things if you put your mind to it. So make 2017 that year. It’s not rocket science. It’s just looking at where you are, where you want to be and how to get there. And then figuring it out yourself.

Books are definitely my to-do for 2017. A couple of How to do stuff type things.
Actually trying out the idea of paying Fiverr-errs to do some research for these topics for me in the next couple of days (anyone sends me a message asking me to employ them will be reported and I might even just make up weird stuff about you and report that to CS too - DONT ASK, I have chosen people already).
I find that when I go to research things I end up in the cesspit of puppy videos and football blogs. By getting others to just deliver the mountain of content to Mohammed (so to speak) I may actually be able to focus more on it and not be distracted.

Oh, and my other thing to do is to find a way to introduce Fiverr to Paypal and Paypal to Fiverr, get them to play nice together and stop the occasional dickish behavior between them.

Honestly, why should I have to be sweating over taking large orders when I am working on the place where you can “get any digital service you want in just one click” who in turn have a payment processor who’s home page has the words “Ideal for business” in large font. It should be a marriage made in Heaven but it’s ridiculous - especially the void left by the lack of info about it to those who actually suffer the consequences…

Info products are definitely the way to go, and the fact that they can be as little as 15-20 pages makes them attractive. PLR might be another way to go as well (as in creating PLR). I’ve never purchased anything on Fiverr so I’m a bit wary of the process, as I feel sure I’d somehow pick the incredibly convincing dud. That, and I have a thing where I believe I can do everything myself, which is a bit silly really. But maybe I can?

Well, this is going to sound very psycho-ish, but my 2017 will be starting with me stranding my ex gf penniless in Indonesia.

Long, long story, but she is currently using 2 prepaid mastercards in my name and all of the money in those accounts is rightfully mine since I earned it while she was out busy being a whoring waitress. Anyway, she doesn’t know that I know she is using my identity, or that I now have all the account logins. What she also doesn’t know, is that I know she will be flying off to Indonesia with her new bf in January to set up shop selling sunglasses to tourists, using my money as capital.

In this case, she won’t be. I have her flight and boarding time and as soon as she is in the air, I will be canceling all the accounts in my name and will come away $7-$10K richer depending on how much she plunders in the meantime. Of course, I am fully expecting the companies involved to freeze any money when two people in two different parts of the world start claiming ownership of the accounts in question. However, I’m actually fine with not getting a penny. I just want her to suffer.

Also, it will be a little bit of an interesting social experiment. Will the talentless weed smoking new love of her life stand by her when she suddenly is out of everyone’s favorite green? Or will he just go and have a beer and hit in a new girl?

Now this sounds very, very, ‘how could you do this-ish,’ however, I have tossed and turned with the moral implications for a couple of months now and since the ex not only cleaned me out of quite a lot of money but also went to great lengths to intercept my post and assume my identity, I feel I am fully justified. In this case, I’ll just wait and see what God says in a few years.

Psycho-ish behavior aside, I too will be aiming to double my earnings in 2017. I have a new writing gig and video concept ready to go and my existing video gigs have shown me where the most niche demand is on Fiverr. In this case, I will be developing the video side of what I do further, while also working more off-Fiverr.

One awesome opportunity I have spotted regards Alibaba. No one, after all, wants to buy 100 new iPhones from sellers who can’t actually spell iPhone. In this case, I will be experimenting with direct marketing and saying “hey crazy Chinese kids, how about I tidy this God-awful mess of a sales copy up and get you moving more products with a cool video too for just $20?”

Also, after having recently come to own my very first iPhone, I have discovered that iPhone lightning cables are the poorest quality ever, hence why Ebay sellers are selling 10 every hour. This being the case, I will also (perhaps) be branching out into Ebay product sales once I have made a few new friends on Alibaba.

Lastly, very similar to you, I need to revitalize my writing career. However, while my soul lies with fiction, my Amazon sales say, “hey honey, theses kids want outrageous political and social controversy.” In this case, I too am thinking about writing another non-fiction book, however, I haven’t yet found a subject I can really make people gasp at without having to also go to great lengths to avoid potential prison time.

How did it go with that $5k guy, btw? I can’t remember if you got it resolved, just that you had some rather robotic/contradictory/generally useless responses from CS

But yeah, agreed. more payment options and better security for buyers and sellers needed. It’s a major stumbling block at the moment.

I will just give you an example. When my father died in 2003, a lot of relatives wanted to grab some of his assets, and made things very difficult for me. I was a recent college drop out, depressed and jobless. They thought they could take advantage of that. But slowly and systematically, I got all the assets converted in my name, and made sure that none of my relatives got even a single dollar or rupee. They were actually gleeful when my father died, but started mourning a few months later when they realised they wouldn’t be getting a single rupee. They then tried to make up with me, asked me for help etc. At no stage did I express any anger with them. Just told them politely to ask someone else. Never appeared angry or emotional. Following that, they never bothered me again. So my point is, don’t get emotional, show her that you know what she is doing, and will put an end to that. When you are calm and relaxed and do what needs to be done, without any display of anger, that’s the best revenge. Defeat your enemy and show that you’re completely unaffected by their antics, that it’s no big deal to you. That’s the biggest blow you can give them.

My first goal for 2017 is to wait for @emmaki to do all that cool stuff she said and find out which things work and which don’t. All except for affliate marketing which i burned out on in 2014. After emmaki finds which endeavors work, I will trick her into summarizing it for me so I can copy the successful parts but not the rest.

My second goal involves books like several others in this thread and I also have a PLR idea I want to explore. It’s too early for many deets yet. I am doing Nanowrimo now but the main project for that is a book I’m co-writing with my mother, so it’s awesome because she’s doing half of the work and we’ll win Nano this year.

My own Nano book is also near completion, but won’t be done by the Nano deadline. I suspect the first bit of 2017 will be doing a second draft of that one and hiring a proofreader so I don’t have to read my own book again. I already know who I’m hiring, so there is no need for anyone to try to sell me their services. Do so at your own peril. 🙂

As everything is going well I’m going to try to replace my current sources of income or find alternatives at least. Knowing that nothing stays the way it is for ever, I try to solve problems before they occur. This is what I’m going to do.
Most important is that my crew and me will finish our movie.

Good to hear that. Could you share your workstation specifications? what kind of fancy instruments, sound chips, graphics cards does a person in your niche use?

Oh this is a good thread, very interesting posts, I´m breaking my antedated ‘Be less social, post less on forums and use that time for solitary activities that will benefit other 2017 resolutions’-resolution for this.
Books, like just about every other one’s plan. Only fiction though. I´ll work on my fantasy trilogy (that´s more a 5-year-plan though), but I´ll definitely get some short stories out (not saying which genre though) or a big enough collection of those to call it a book with good conscience.
Re abs, I´m not going to let fiverr or anything else really, interfere with my gym schedule anymore, I did a few times since I joined, not anymore, the orders that would be worth that, are the ones that take longer time to do anyway and so aren´t affected by that.
I´m planning a new gig, which isn´t in my current category, and like Emma I´ll need to learn and buy some stuff for it, the idea is to ‘crash-learn’ over christmas, when I´ll hopefully have some free days and won´t be sick (I tend to get sick on holidays, when my body senses it´s the time it might slip through with those antics), but I don´t have a concrete date for ‘launching it’, just 2017, I won´t do it, before I feel I´m either good or good enough.
I´ve ideas for two gigs that won´t need much time to be spent on apart from the ‘technicals’, and will be mulling them over before the new year rolls around, and then either implement them or cast them aside to free up grey matter for other things.
I´ll get better with a language I love but only know from holidays and singing songs. Already installed an app for that and started, will up the pace in 2017.
I´ll read more. Yeah, MORE. lol
I´ll get an audible subscription (christmas gift from a person who´s sensible enough to ask people what they’d actually like as a gift) and I´m curious to find out, if I´ll manage more than the 1 free book/month or even that, as my books of choice often tend to be long and thick, and I´ll probably fall asleep often while listening).
More tea, less coffee (that´s the one I already know won´t happen though, and it´s just on the list pro forma).

IMPORTANT NOTE:
Reading someone´s post on a forum thread does entitle you to write a comment on their post. It entitles them to either comment on your comment, or to not. It however does NOT entitle you to write them a personal message in their inbox.

They have approved the sample I sent, agreed on the price and time frame. Now they are mulling over the split order method that I proposed. Because I had to give detailed reasons for it I suspect they may be worried that I am hiding something. I understand this as it seems odd why someone would turn down a large order in favor of several smaller ones. Honestly, I am so pissed about it because it would literally give me enough work to keep me going from now to the new year.
