I would like some advice on my gigs

Recommended Posts

I’ve read pretty much every article on top-notch gigs. I’m recieving a decent amount of impressions, views, and clicks, but no orders. Can someone review my gigs and give me some constructive criticism. Are my descriptions too vague? Am I just in a creative category with people that are much better than I am?
Here are my gigs:

A majority of my hand-made work is very underpriced, but what’s a broke college student to do?
Thanks in advance!

Dear Michelle:

As a creative person myself, I share your frustration. I’m sure you’ve read The #TaylorSpliffed Project, which is the book of lyrics I wrote in response to the lyrics from Taylor Swift’s first five studio albums. As a guy.

I have an ad for it on my YouTube channel. I’ve even tweeted about it to Taylor Swift herself, but has she turned any of my lyrics into songs or even given me a retweet?! No!

I don’t know WHAT her problem is.

If only I was good looking, could sing, or even play a musical instrument, I’d be making millions right now! You’d be as sick of seeing me on TMZ as I’m sure you are of seeing the Kardashians and all those other young people whose names I don’t really remember, like that fellow who named himself after the candy that used to be made out of chocolate, and that other fellow who likes to give directions and had a baby with one of those Kardashians.

In short, like Bill Clinton, I feel your pain. It’s hard out here for a pimp!

I took a look at your profile and your Octopus gig. Here are my thoughts:

  • Your log line: I find many ways to craft items and put my abilities to use

As a matter of my own personal preference, I don’t care for this, because it seems too generic. I don’t have specific suggestions. Maybe you could look around at other people’s profiles for inspiration. Whatever you do, don’t use “Have Blender Will Render,” because that one’s taken!

*Your profile image:

Assuming this is you, you’re a babe. But if you’re not making sales, you might want to just update the profile photo. In my humble opinion, you should craft a persona that says skilled professional. I personally don’t care for the cap and gown look. I suggest A/B testing different profile images till you find the one that gets an optimal response.

  • Your profile text:

Hello! My name is Michelle and I have a variety of interests. My skills range from hand-made crafts, Creative Writing, translation, photography, and many more. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. Thank you for your time 🙂

Your text is geared to what you do, not what makes you special. Your goal here is to make the Buyer feel they know, like, and trust you. In my humble opinion, you should talk more about who you are as a person.

I checked the spelling of “handmade” via Google. I don’t believe it needs a hyphen. Your mileage may vary.

  • Gig Title: I will crochet a toy Sailor Octopus for $5

I think you are shooting yourself in the foot by trying to sell physical items via Fiverr. This is not what Fiverr is good at. I’d suggest selling your crafts at a local Farmer’s Market. The logistics of selling physical items via Fiverr are not in your favor.

This is not a criticism of your skill as a crafter.

If you want to stick with these crafting gigs, I suggest you boil them down to one. The gig should have a video and 3 images.

  • Gig Description:

I have been crocheting/knitting for a couple of years now. One of my most popular creations is my Sailor Octopus.
It fits in the palm of an adult’s hand and is a great gift for anyone of any age!
If completed before the initial date stated (NOT the rush date), I will still send it with no additional cost.

I don’t see how you can possibly make a profit from this gig, just on the basis of shipping and handling alone. Do yourself a favor and find out who Josh Kaufman is. I just saved you $300,000 on your MBA!

A suggested format for your gig descriptions:

  • Video: 30 to 60 seconds. Fiverr says videos can boost your sales. You should include lots of examples.

If nothing else, you should be playing with the Octopus while talking to the camera.

Gig Images: You have 1. You should use 3. Show the Octopus from different angles.

Gig Extras: These seem fine.

Bottom line: I suggest that you focus on creating digital content.

If you’re a creative writer, offer a short ebook that you can deliver digitally. I don’t offer The #TaylorSpliffed Project via Fiverr because it talks about mature adult themes like sex, death, and religion, that are not permitted on Fiverr.

However, you could put together your short stories or poetry as a pdf and offer that.

You could do a how-to craft ebook.

Again, given that you’re a babe, you could be a spokesperson. Check out those twins who do spokesmodeling gigs. You could sing happy birthday or feliz cumpleanos. If you have access to cloning technology, make two clones of yourself and do a triplets spokesmodel gig. One of you could be a blond, one a brunette, and one could be a redhead!

Take a look at Canva and offer an imagemaking gig. I’ve made more sales at this point with Canva than any of my other gigs.

Offer a proofreading gig! Use Buyer Requests.

I think you need to do more research via YouTube on just what to offer via Fiverr.

The sky’s the limit!

Good luck,

Thanks for the recommendation. I really appreciate your advice. After I changed my profile picture to my actual face, I was contacted by someone who only wanted my s***e id for who knows what. I’d rather not get harassed by random men who have no interest in my gigs lol. I’ll look into doing more digital things instead.
