I am new to fiverr and I feel like many of the things I offer require good reviews before anyone actually buys them. I would be willing to do them for free in exchange for a review and I’m sure others would as well. It would be nice if we could trade fiverr’s to get some initial reviews for the newcomers.

If people could review free work, sellers could take an approach like a new Amazon seller who gives away an e-book to all their family and friends and asks for unverified reviews. It can quickly inflate the appearance of the product even if the people reviewing don’t really use the product. It turns reviews into something worthless.

If Fiverr allowed it, you’d see newcomers acquire at least a dozen reviews in a day or two. Buyers would just begin to assume all new sellers did this and they would skip over people with less than 30 reviews which would actually hurt new sellers.

It takes time to slowly build up a good reputation with good reviews. As fonthaunt said, reviews would be worthless if they are something people could give for freebies.
