Cannot spend funds

I was refunded 8 bucks and the money does not seem to be spendable on a service or as a tip. How do i use it or withdraw it?

If you buy a gig worth $5 or a custom order of $8, you’ll be charged from this refunded balance on your account.
If you purchase anything that costs more than $8 - this balance will stay on your account, and you will be charged from your paypal/credit card instead.

New to the Fiverr community. I received a gift of $5.00 that must be used by May 31st. I do not know how to redeem this. If I purchase a gig for $10.00 will it just re-calculate the difference? so that I only pay $5.00?
