New Feature Test - Sponsored Gigs FAQ

We’re testing a new feature called Sponsored Gigs and want to share some details about what it is and how it impacts you.

Sponsored Gigs allow sellers to invest in ad space for their Gigs on the Fiverr site (for example, on the first row of Search results and in other places). Sponsored Gigs will be available to a small group of sellers during our test phase, which is happening now.

Our goal for this tool is to give you more control over your Fiverr business than ever before.

Q: Why are we doing this?
A: Based on a survey we recently conducted and other feedback, we know that the majority of the community is interested in a Sponsored Gig option. We’re running this test to figure out the best way to implement the feature.

Q: Who is participating in the test phase?
A: We used a randomizer across seller levels. If you aren’t in the test and would like to participate, please leave a comment below and let us know.

Q: What do sponsored Gigs look like?
A: Sponsored Gigs look like normal Gigs with a small “Ad” badge that appears on the upper lefthand corner, like in the image below:

Q: Where do the ads appear?
A: The ads will appear in various places on the Fiverr site, including in search results and possibly on the homepage.

Q: How is it going to affect my business?
A: Sellers participating in the test will likely see fluctuations in traffic. The test will not impact sellers who are not participating.

We don’t anticipate anyone who is not participating to experience less sales. For those who do participate, the goal is to enable those sellers to take their businesses to the next level.

Q: How much will Sponsored Gigs cost when it rolls out?
A: We don’t yet know pricing details. The test phase will help us understand the pricing method that makes most sense for our community.

Q: How do you track quality?
A: There’s an editorial determination that will ensure the quality of any sellers and Gigs that appear as sponsored ads. Leveled sellers will have the first opportunity to take advantage of this feature.

Q: How long is the test phase going to last?
A: A few weeks. Thanks for your patience! We’ll update the community again about our insights following the conclusion of the test phase.

I am interested, although I have seen similar efforts on other sites and one in particular which fails miserably to deliver, and the cost is ridiculous. I spent $50+ on that site for one week of promotion and got zero return. (I have the top rating on that site so it was not down to that)

By insights, you mean feedback from the testers? Here’s another question: Will sponsored gigs relevant to specific categories only show up there or will the format be the same as shown on the home page?
