The new request a gig-from a buyers perspective

Hi, Just wondering if other buyers or even sellers, like this request a gig system instead of being able to browse through and look at samples of work and make a choice? This is the fist time I have put in a request, have used the old system many times, and have to say I really am not happy with this. I get 50 responses that all say the same thing, prices vary but I have no real way to pick one from the next. I suppose I could go in and search out each seller individually and look at their stuff but that is very time consuming. So I picked the first one that offered the price I asked for, but it is a shot in the dark. What happens when i don’t like the work? I have no samples to look at, no listing of their past gigs, no choice of what gigs they offer so I can get what I want. If this is the only way to order now, I guess I won’t be ordering anymore. This is not a buyer friendly system anymore. Now it is like Elance and I quit using that because you get overwhelmed with people trying to vi for the work. Thanks for listening and hope it working better for you than for me.

I can’t say I’m a big fan of the new buyer request system as a seller or a buyer. I would suggest that first, you can still search for gigs the regular way and that might be smart. Yes, you’d have to look people up and read, but you’d also have access to samples, etc. if the seller has the gig set up well.

Second, when someone does submit a response to your buyer request, they usually (maybe always with the new system) need to associate it with one of their existing gigs. Even if it isn’t a perfect match, take a look at their gig images and see if they show some samples there. I think many of the sellers who have been Fiverr a while try to show samples there. You can also scan their gig description fairly quickly to look for hyperlinks.

There are several sites that are allowed to show samples (like SoundCloud for audio, YouTube for video or really anything, and a few others for images and other sample types.) If you want to see their work, that’s the fastest way I can think of to sort. I would still want to read gig descriptions myself anyway and I wouldn’t buy from a seller without reading, but if you don’t want to do that those are the other things I can suggest.
