Tips for messaging sellers

When shopping on Fiverr, there are many situations in which you’ll need to send sellers a message.

Here are a few tips to help you get the response you need:

Be clear about what you want

If you are asking about whether the seller can offer a service you need. Let them know exactly what you’re looking for. By giving them all the details upfront, you’ll be able to get an accurate response from them with respect to time and cost of the project.e

If you give them inaccurate information from the get-go, it may result in an inaccurate price quote and to complete the order you may need to purchase an add-on.

Add your order number

If you’re writing about an order that they completed for you, add the order number to your message. That will help the seller find the order you’re referencing.

Personalize your messages

If you need something done and are messaging a number of sellers to ask them about it, make sure to personalize these messages. Especially if you’re copy and paste a general message take a minute to include their username and any other detail to let them know that the message was intentionally sent to them.

Fiverr community members can report messages as unwanted. When they do this, you may get flagged and won’t be able to send any other messages.

Personalizing your messages can help let the seller know that your message is meant for them.

I would add to that list: BE CONSIDERATE and READ THE COMPLETE GIG DESCRIPTION before writing. I would estimate that at least 50% or more of the messages I receive each day could easily be answered if buyers read the gig description.

Please be sure not to ask us to give you our personal contact info or phone and email address as this is against Fiverr TOS (Also required reading). Doing so could get the buyer and seller suspended.

And importantly: treat sellers like REAL PEOPLE, because we are. Rudeness, demanding things, and just being plain mean isn’t cool no matter how you look at it.

and also this must be included…

Avoid asking for personalized samples before ordering - Some buyers are there they say they are going to order a big one (like 50-60 images etc) but asks for sample work for the buyers to check them with buyers’ client. If they are about to order a big deal…then putting up an order for the samples must not be a huge issue right? So if buyers ask for customized samples they must order the gig as necessary 🙂

And when Buyers that try to take advantage must be reported…

I have a buyer who constantly asks for or implies that I should give him a discount. I am much more inclined to give respectful, grateful buyers a discount than demanding entitled ones.
