WARNING...Flyer Distributing ( For Buyers)

Please be cautious when purchasing a gig from a flyer distributor. I have used the services of a few flyer distributors. I wish I could use the names, but the rules say I can’t mention the sellers. When purchasing a gig from a seller. Make sure their is communication to ensure they are not a scammer. One of my gigs took too long to respond and once i was preparing to cancel. They then immediately blamed it on Fiverr. They claimed they passed out a 100 and something flyers, but my web site analytics did not show any hits within that time period. Use a seller that will show you proof of passing out your ad. Recently I found out that a seller was a true scammer. I was a little naive but quickly came to my senses. I tried communicating with the seller asking a few questions. One response did not sit well and didn’t seem to have been a sincere remark. It had almost sounded scripted. The communication then ended between me and the seller. Having a career in investigations I begin to do research. I found out that the photo was not the actual seller, but copied from other sites. The picture of the woman was a model. At the same time I found out that the Nigerian 419 scammers were link to the photo. I then passed this on to the Fiverr team and they are investigating. Here is where I began to get concerned. The seller offered to to give me 600 flyers in color for $25.00 and to be distributed on the campus of Texas University. Printing 600 colored flyers is very costly. As the old saying goes " if it too good to be true, most likely it isn’t". I would advise you to do a image search. Plus make sure there is communication between you and the seller. Stay Safe.

I agree partially with what you are saying here - ie. about the fake pictures and printing and distributing 600 flyers as being too good to be true. BUT as a flyer distributor myself of my own material as well as other people’s material - distributing flyers does not guarantee sales, hits on websites, phone inquiries etc. I did 5000 years ago and got 1 customer. You need to have someone who really understands how to best market your product - ie where and how to market it to get the results you want. And of course if you go with flyer distribution, you need someone honest (good luck with that.) I have seen some flyer distributors here and I’m sure not all are bad. There are people in every category here who are not who they say they are and untrustworthy. One needs to check the reviews thoroughly before ordering payment, and I certainly wouldn’t pay more than $5 for a gig if it was a new seller with no feedback.

I’m just amazed that you thought handing out some flyers would somehow get you hits. I can’t be the only person who walks past people handing out trash, smiles and accepts, then chucks it in the nearest bin, can I?

Flyers = real life spam. Still better than chuggers (or “charity muggers”, a sub-species to be found on every high street in Britain. They want your credit card details to save the poor, dying Africans, and don’t you walk away you heartless b*****d! Not mentioned: how much of that monthly guilt donation lines the pockets of the charity CEO and not that starving orphan with a malnourished goat. To be fair, the chuggers don’t get paid much if they do at all)

A bit of a tangent there, but that’s essentially what happened to your flyers. You paid someone nothing to do something pointless, and then compounded that error by wasting oodles of time researching someone who probably did the work and got bored with the Sherlock act.

Additionally, that is me in my profile pic, admiring what I considered to be the world’s smallest bell pepper at one time (it wasn’t, but I have no dull pics of me with its successor)–but if it’s a sexy white girl with nice baps, it’s probably someone who read a book about how to be successful on Fiverr. A sexy white girl with baps is one of those points.

CAVEAT EMPTOR. Do your research prior to buying, not after when disappointed.

the scammers account was recently closed and is now operating under another name. Please let me say their name. They are using the same gig pitch and some of the old feed back photos. They are now claiming they can distribute 600-800 flyers in Massachusetts for $15.00. Plus the model they are using on their gig is from a sex site.

Hi there!

I recommend reporting this to Fiverr customer support. We restrict direct callouts on the forum for multiple reasons - one being we do not have the capabilities to look into the issue further and assess.

If you present the information directly to customer support, they can help a lot more and have a lot more access to details to verify the user is the same as previous (as opposed to a copycat who may have seen an opening in the market).

Regards,
Adam

Another one bites the dust. The other scammer was shut down. I give props to the Fiverr team for taking this matter serious. I truly understand that Fiverr cant police every seller. The Fiverr community is the only one that can watch each others back. ensuring that we keep Fiverr free of the scammers allowing it to be a great to go source for what ever your need is. When something is to good to be true, most likely its something to be cautious of.

I’m sorry you had such a bad experience but seriously $15-25 to print and distribute 600 flyers, how could you possibly believe that would be real? And IF it was, how bad would the flyers look?
In fact, if he did hand out these horrendously cheap flyers, it’s possible that people looked at it and thought "no way would I go to THAT FLYER’S WEBSITE!"
You should check out my post in the tips for buyers, it might help you when ordering here again.
