eBook Editing Scam

Recently engaged an eBook Editor who has now sent me a message saying “my hard drive crashed” and they cannot fulfil my order. This is after I have sent them my eBook for editing.



I believe this is just a scam to acquire my file.



Has this happened to you?

I haven’t heard of this happening. For anything as major as an e-book, though, I would think you’d use special care when choosing a seller. Did you pick someone who had some solid experience, a sizable number of very good reviews and a very well written gig description?

Usually someone with those credentials wouldn’t risk doing something like you describe. As long as it is someone with a good well-rated gig they might genuinely need to cancel and return your funds.
