reinier01
This a classic Nigerian 419 scam, and you communicate with this person at your peril. The “419” refers to a like-numbered article in the Nigerian Criminal Code that is designed to prevent this type of scam.

anigrams
About a 100% chance that not only is this a classic Nigerian scam but that also your “Dear” Ann Ben is a Dude and not a “Her”. Caveat Emptor!!!
reinier01
Reply to @ruslancer: Speaking of imagination- you would be surprised at the number of people in my country that are still taken in by this scam on almost a daily basis. Nowadays, these scammers do not really need imagination anymore. Now they have the imaginations of their victims to make them rich.
jamesbulls
Reply to @reinier01: Indeed. It was from the Nigerian 419 scam that the Onion awarded the entire country of Nigeria a lifetime achievement award for creative writing xD

ruslancer
Reply to @reinier01: I get that, I remember when I was a child and got a letter that I won 2 millions in lottery, I never played. My parents were not educated about technologies too, I was born in a very poor region and just started to study what the Internet is all about (dialup, extremely low speeds, hourly paid and very limited), so everybody believed in the great luck.Good thing we didn’t have any credit card too 🙂 so it saved us from scammers
