The sheer amount of gigs to choose from can be intimidating for first time Fiverr buyers. Here are a few tips to help you get started.

  1. Pay Attention to your Category.

A quick glance at the Fiverr homepage shows that the gigs are split up into 12 categories. This is the easiest place to start looking for a gig to buy. If you need someone to write a blog post for you, check out the Writing & Translation category. If you need a logo created, the Graphics & Design category is the place for you. If you know exactly what you’re looking for, take advantage of the search bar option. Enter a few keywords that describe what you need done, and you’ll be presented with a list of gigs that fit that description.

  2. Read Seller Reviews

When a seller completes a gig, the buyer has the option to rate the experience and leave a brief review. Not many will leave a full review, but you can get a good idea of the quality of work provided by the seller simply by looking at the ratio of thumbs up to thumbs down ratings. It works much the same as reading product reviews on Amazon. You wouldn’t buy a coffee maker that has nothing but 1 star rating, and you shouldn’t buy a gig from a seller with more negative than positive reviews.

  3. Take Advantage of the Message System

One of the greatest tools that Fiverr provides is its internal messaging system. This allows you to communicate with your seller before, during, and after the gigs are complete. This is the best way to make sure that you get exactly what you need from the gig. Spend as much time as you feel comfortable with talking to your seller to make sure you both are on the same page.

  4. Provide Information

You will find that when you purchase a gig, you will have to fill out a section containing all of the details that you need to have covered in the completed gig. This, along with the internal message system, is the best way to get what you need. Add as many details as you can in the space provided and don’t hesitate to send a message to your seller if you run out

of space. That way, your seller knows exactly what you want and there is very little room for error.

  5. Ask for What you Want

Don’t be afraid to ask for what you want. If you find a seller that you like but their gigs don’t describe precisely what you’re looking for, message them and ask if they’d be willing to work with you. Many sellers are accommodating and willing to create new gigs to fit whatever the buyer’s needs may be.
