Hello,

I received a message from a guy that said the following. Why would someone for any company need a video and photos of you holding your ID, unless they are trying to rob you?

Thoughts?

Or: are you prepared for the potential to have to deal with sorting out ID theft for $300 (-20%)?

Quite aside from that, how many testimonial videos (if even real) feature people waving about their personal documents? Please report this to Fiverr, because this isn’t the first instance.

Well, the only business I know of that has you “hold up your ID next to your face” and that it has to be clear is adult related sites/companies that have to have this on file (this is known as the 2257 record keeping requirement compliance to prove all models on an adult oriented site are 18 and of legal age).

What seals the deal that it most likely IS an adult company trying to use your image for their site is their third request of you: “provide some high quality photos of you…”

Perhaps they want to steal your identity, but, I bet they also want to use your photos to promote their adult site. I bet if you answered and asked what type of “high quality photos” they may say they would be thrilled if you wore a bikini or other suggestive stuff…and if you want to make maybe another $100, send some topless pics too…

I would report these people personally.

Reply to @genuineguidance: that’s interesting information, I wasn’t aware of it. Every time I’ve had adult industry people approach me they’ve been professional though (“this is what we do, we understand if you don’t want to work with us, we’re looking for xyz”). So I discounted that industry on this basis. The clear pics of personal ID is just… argh, don’t do it!!! An NDA is more than enough!

Yeah, I agree, I would NEVER hold up my ID for some random buyer on any site. LOL But, the way they have worded their request seems to be trying to comply with the requirements of being on an adult site, regardless of whether they would ask her to submit “sexy pics”.

There are plenty of attractive people out there willing to show off their hot body (and make the rest of us contemplate our flab in the mirror lol) without resorting to this.

Last time I was in the UK and in the job centre, I looked. The jobs were awful, but for one. Get your boobs out during an “interview” (it was not mentioned if more was expected). £200/day I think it was. I printed it out to show my mum and we laughed about it (I still have the ticker tape, but it’s on the other side of Europe, I think). And that’s in a government resource where if you’re forced to work with them you get penalized for not accepting jobs/zero hour contracts etc. Sigh.

If you want to get your boobs and things out for money and ratings, fine. You will regret it. Say no, move on and report. Or get your boobs/sexy bits out. But under no account give away financial and personal details!

The reason you got it was since you’re offering to do these things for people.
When one offers a modeling gig they should know that there are different requests that come with it.

Staying safe is the most important part. That’s why there is a small minority, really small amount of people who offer these type of gigs here.

Yeah, that just sounded wrong in every way, shape, and form. I only (truly) do photos, since contractually I cannot really do anything else… but that just yelled ID theft to me. I’ve been a victim of that from doing absolutely nothing strange! So, I’m already on high-alert!

This…Oh, dear…no limit to the nefarious deeds of some people in the world. Glad you listened to your intuition or sixth sense on that one 'cause that had “scam” written all over it…One of my cousins was a victim of identity theft and I am certain it was a nightmare to recover from.
