Giving feedback after order cancellations / viewing sellers cancelled orders

Recommended Posts

Its okay seeing 100% feedback on sellers gig page but i would also want to see how many orders he/she has over a timeframe.

Also - feedback should be made even after a cancelled order. I have cancelled an order because it was delayed or the seller has not delivered what was promised and feedback makes future sellers aware

down vote too. If you get money back you shouldnt get option to give review.

If seller failed to deliver on time, buyer can cancel it and seller will get negative review. That is ok. Rest nope.

This I agree with.

Yeah…no.

Sorry, but this has been discussed so many times on this forum, there’s just no way that this is viable. In this one specific instance, it might be valuable for the marketplace for buyers to be able to leave feedback on cancelled orders, yes.

In just about every other situation, however, allowing buyers to leave feedback on cancelled orders would leave sellers without a single protection. If someone orders and starts making unreasonable demands, decides to get hostile, orders by mistake, etc. the only recourse a seller (scrupulous and unscrupulous sellers alike) has is to cancel the order. If buyers were allowed to rate those orders, I’d have no way to protect myself from buyers who ask 3x what they’ve paid for or who ask me to do something I say in my descriptions I won’t do, or even those that order, put “I’ll get back to you” in the instructions box, and then never get back to me. Those are all orders I have to cancel–and I didn’t do anything wrong. Why should those buyers be allowed to give me a rating? Especially when the ratings that sellers give buyers mean pretty much nothing?

And again TODAY Similar thing happened.

I ordered a gig ( which has 50 in the queue ) and I got the seller cancelling the gig 12 hours later. I would prefer him/her to mark it as complete just so i can give negative feedback.

Gives a lame as.s excuse and says “please accept cancellation”. Not being funny guys but not only has my time been wasted but all or some of the other 50 people in the queue have also been wasted.

I could have saved my time and just used another seller…

But now the seller who wants to cancel get to save his 5 star rating???

Sorry, but there are two sides to every story. If the seller really does have 50 orders in their queue there is probably a darn good reason for it. High cancellation ratings DO affect sellers ratings and buyers have to agree to a cancellation if they’d like their money back. Why worry about it? Start sending messages to sellers before you order. If they don’t respond, don’t buy from them. Why is that so hard?

I’m a TRS and have had to cancel over 100 orders because buyers just can’t get it together and send me the instructions I require to create a “masterpiece” for $5. Why should I receive a negative rating from a buyer who doesn’t have a clue about what their doing or blatantly ignores my requirements? As @emasonwrites said, the only protection we have is the ability to cancel orders.

I don’t agree with your points, and I think the platform could work better for you if you used a strategy of contacting sellers first (or refusing to buy from sellers who do not respond to your inquires) rather than demanding to leave negative feedback, get your money back, and having cancellations affect seller’s ratings.

I also disagree! If the gig was cancelled they buyer should not get the option to leave a review!

I would very much like to see reviews for buyers instead, so we as sellers can see who we are dealing with as well.

As already said there are always 2 sides of the story. I am sorry you had a bad experience , but it might help to communicate with the seller first before placing your order to avoid these type of situations .

True like gingerwriter said. If buyer had 50 orders in que, that means 2 things.

  1. He or she its great buyer if he/she has 50 orders in que and as you can see from that “everyone” is ordering from "him/her
  2. When you have 50 orders in que, do you think that buyer is busy or not? And maybe dont have time for new order?

It is good thing that buyer cancel it after 12 hours. Maybe you would like that buyer was waiting more to cancel.

And one more thing. You ordered from buyer that have 50 orders to make before he/she works on your order.

Also if I am a buyer, and see 50 orders in que. Of course I will contact seller first to see if he/she is available to work.

You may “disagree” but hey the seller is still taking orders and has not paused the gig.

I asked the seller why they wanted to cancel and all i got was abuse.

Why should me the “buyer” have to contact a seller to check if he/she has time to do a gig just because they have orders in a queue? Its for them to know if they can still carry on delivering or not.

People you obviously dont get it. i do not give a monkeys about $15. I would prefer to lose the money and leave a negative review than having to agree to cancel at the sellers request with no explanation why they cannot do the job advertised.

Fiverr might as well have a cancelation button just for the seller that they can use at anytime and that does not require a buyer to agree to it.

I know now how some sellers are in the top 10 as when things get on top and they are in trouble delivering the gig, instead of pausing they simply cancel ppls gigs so their business is not affected.

I certainly don’t agree…

You said, "I know now how some sellers are in the top 10 as when things get on top and they are in trouble delivering the gig, instead of pausing they simply cancel ppls gigs so their business is not affected."

That’s not exactly true… They are affected, as too many cancellations hurt their levels, hurt their cancellation ratio and more. And, there are sometimes legitimate reasons sellers cannot work on a project.

Sometimes, the project is beyond the scope of what we will or won’t accept. If I don’t want to work on a s****l-based article and want to offer a cancellation, why should I get penalized by the buyer who didn’t even contact me first to see if I could work on such a topic?

Sellers don’t have the option to accept orders… so the only thing we can do is cancel them… for whatever reason. You may not like the reason your seller gave, and it may not even have been the truth, but you either accept it or don’t. Bear in mind that just because you decline a cancellation doesn’t mean sellers can’t just go to CS and ask for help… just like buyers can.

This is why we sellers ENCOURAGE buyers to message us first to ensure that we can take on your project.

Sellers DO have the option to accept order or not. Its called the pause gig button.

In terms of reasons; none was ever given to me and when i asked i was given insults.

you say you CERTAINLY dont agree and then you gone on to say that not exactly the truth? whats the issue with pausing a gig??? yes there can be reasons people cancel a gig but NONE was given.

LOL encouraging buyers to contact sellers first ROFL. my gig was a SIMPLE bog standard seo gig . not a custom, just a run of the mill seo gig.

Well the gigs timer has run out so I guess I will have to cancel and leave his future customers to believing his 5 star rating is real ( which of course its not )

  • If I want to continue accepting orders, but don’t want to work with you… I should have the option to accept or decline an offer before any work or money exchanges hands. A pause button wouldn’t do me any good in that instance.

In terms of reasons; none was ever given to me and when i asked i was given insults.

  • Don’t make the assumption that this is true for everyone. I recently had to cancel an ebook gig (large project) I had in my hands for two weeks because I suffered a death in the immediate family. Was it done maliciously? Of course not but if the buyer had been able to leave feedback and I was not, would that be fair? -

You say you CERTAINLY dont agree and then you gone on to say that not exactly the truth? whats the issue with pausing a gig??? yes there can be reasons people cancel a gig but NONE was given.

  • I don’t agree with the whole “let’s leave feedback on all cancelled gigs.” What meant by not exactly the truth is that you said they are not affected by cancelling the gig and retaining their 5-star status. And, that’s not the truth! We do get penalized for it. Too many and we could be stripped of our level status and our cancellation ratio goes high, which also affects our levels. Plus, we lose out on the sale. -

  • Just because YOURS was a simple standard SEO gig doesn’t mean anything. To you, it may simple. For others, it may come across as speaking a whole new language. -

  • Actually, you do leave feedback in the form of an automatic negative rating. The Fiverr system automatically leaves it on all late cancelled orders. It’s called " Cancelled Order. Seller Failed to deliver In Time. -

Reply to @googlemaster: You aren’t forced to cancel. You can decline the cancellation and still leave feedback on a completed order. And if a gig is officially late (by the gig clock’s standards, not by any artificially imposed deadline) when you cancel the order, an automatic negative review is left on that gig.

You don’t. But you probably should. You’re saying you didn’t get a reason for the cancellation, take it up with CS if it was such a big deal. If what you’re saying is accurate that is unfortunate, however, all we can do as sellers is tell you our side of the story. We are fully aware how the system you’re proposing would affect us. Buyers constantly purchase my gigs and send me virtually no instructions for what they want. I have to cancel the gig because they feel they should just have to ‘buy’ my gig and be done with it.

I don’t think you understand the power you already wield over sellers as a buyer. If you don’t care about the cash, then what’s the problem? Just move on to another seller. My suggestion is to contact a seller before you order so you can avoid the cancellation problem. If you don’t like that suggestion, then feel free to continue risking your order being cancelled. Alternatively, do your homework and read through gig descriptions before buying a gig. If you do all of that and still suffer from cancellations, then you might just want to look for another platform to help you with your project.

I’m sorry you are having issues, I really am, but the suggestion you’re offering just won’t work. Sorry.

Fiverr is a two way platform, to make the most of it you, as a buyer, have to put in a little effort as well.

If the order is cancelled then who can leave a review? or neither the buyer or the seller does? also, does cancellation of an order affect the rating of seller/buyer? thanks!

A cancellation can have a negative affect on your gigs.

If an order is cancelled the buyer still has the option to leave a hidden review.
