Making a Facebook page for your gigs

So, I’m trying really hard to utilize social media platforms to promote my gigs and was reading that a seller should make a business page on FB.

Love the idea and would like to see if it generates any business etc. but I’m not sure how to go about doing this. I have a couple ideas that I’d like to share and if anyone wants to offer suggestions, it would be a great help!

As a writer, I have a few freelance positions that I currently do that are long-term. I thought of making something like a “public figure” page to encompass everything I do and am interested in as a writer. This includes sharing posts from things other than just my fiverr and maybe working with other sellers to post a thing or two on there to reach a wider audience (assume I had enough followers, etc.) I know I’m not famous, so would this be acceptable? would there be any likelihood of generating business this way?

Second, I thought of just doing a business page and approaching it the same way as the public figure idea. Only, when I started, it was asking for name/address/ph. number etc. and I’m not a brick and mortar store or anything, so I stopped and deleted, afraid that my personal info would be out there.

So, that’s my pickle. I’d love to gain a following to help grow my freelance writing and share community interests in the writing realm, but just don’t know what is the best idea when it comes to FB.

Thanks for any insight!

They are all considered “business” pages so to speak, just choose the page that says “artist” along with other people, yo are an artist as in a writer, correct?

This is actually more a question for FB actually rather than Fiverr. Actually it might help to google ‘social media marketing’ in general. GAining active followers in anything is an art unto itself. Do you like lots of other writers pages? Start there and pay attention to what they do. But not just the number of followers, but the percentage of people that engage, how many people like a post, how many people comment, etc., etc.

Also, as far as Fiverr is concerned, just make sure you do not contact buyers from Fiverr outside of Fiverr.

Awesome, thanks for the info. I’d like to think of myself as an artist 🙂

I’ve read a lot on social media marketing and have gotten great info, but nothing beats first-hand experience from other sellers in the same line as me, especially the veterans.

I do follow lots of writers and have noticed trends, etc., so that’s helped me quite a bit in understanding what people find interesting.

Ah ha!! I see! Under the artist, there is an option for “writer” I was afraid to start making a profile, thinking that fb would ask for all my personal info again. Silly me, certainly my mistake.

But I’m still interested in anyone who might have suggestions, etc 🙂

Reply to @wolferton: Suggestions about what part, generating business? It’s very hard to do. FB marketing should be once slice of your marketing pie, so don’t rely on it solely. It helps your “brand” which is “you” so to speak. but as a writer looking for freelance gigs, I’m not sure how viable it would be. Are the writers you are following freelance writers looking for clients? Or more like authors and those who write publically for blogs, newspapers, etc.? Are any of them promoting their Fiverr gigs?

I think go ahead and start one. Why not? Just go for it. Be sure to post 4 non-self promoting posts for ever 1 post that you do. Figure out what posts work best, but looking at your stats and insights from time to time. Be aware that the reach without paying for it, is not going to be that high. IT’s kind of like email marketing, business owners are always shocked when they see the first reports to find only 10% of the people on their list opened their email. Similar things happen on FB pages. But it certainly can’t hurt and can only be a benefit, so just go do it and see how it grows.
