Strange Seller

Hi there,

Thought of sharing this experience with you guys.

I approached a buyer earlier, asking him if he could design me a logo for my company. One of the reasons I asked him was in his profile he stated he was from Germany. Since I am from Germany and I thought of I could communicate with him comfortably in German.

Guess what, the reply from this buyer was: He felt better to communicate with me in English. I felt strange. He openly said that he was from Germany but he preferred English to German when writing to me. Well, of course I respected his decision.

He was a slow responder too. He delivered me the wrong logos and gave reasons that he was busy and involved in an accident.

I did not give him good reviews based on his service. I had to be fair to other potential buyers who might read the reviews too. He was mad bout it and started threatening me.

I have two questions:

(1) can the sellers fake their origin countries just to impress or attract more buyers?

(2) at first the seller agreed that I could use the logo he designed, after giving him my negative reviews, he prohibited me to use it. Does it mean that to get permissions from the sellers using their designs, the buyers have no chance but to post positive reviews of the sellers?

Good news is, this seller has changed his fake country of origin to another country.

Strange experience for me.

Sorry to hear about your weird experience!

  1. Yes, the sellers can fake their real country. I’m not sure how they do it, but some do. Keep in mind, though, that the request to communicate in English isn’t strange at all; it’s safer that way for everyone involved, because in the case of a dispute, the staff can see and understand the conversation.

  2. To use the design you purchased, you need to pay for it. If it is stated in the seller’s gig that you need to purchase a commercial license or something, you must pay for it, too. How you review your experience doesn’t affect whether you’re allowed to use what you bought and paid for, even though it does seem strange that you would use something you described as wrong.

Hi there,

sorry for not making my statements clearly. The first and second deliveries from the seller were catastrophe. I told him to refer to my information that I provided. He did of course after his third attempt.

I was commenting on his service provided in my review. Not the logo. He was mad bout it. Well, am I supposed to make reviews bout the designs but not the customer service or attitudes of the sellers?

Does it mean that it is fine that this seller changed his mind or offer after reading ny negative review? Although he stated earlier it was my right to use it (before I posted my review)…so before and after, which one us which one? Yes, before I posted my comment, No, after knowing that I posted negative review…hmm…

I am confused now.

Reply to @depeichen: I feel like once you’ve paid for the service and a product is delivered, the transaction is over. There was never an agreement in place that stated you needed express permission or that the seller had the right to revoke it, so I see no reason why it wouldn’t be yours to do as you wish. As far as I know there’s no responsibility for the buyer to keep the seller happy, at any point, but especially after the transaction is complete. Otherwise, where does it end? If he can revoke permission now, what about five years from now? Why would the seller have any rights after money is exchanged and a product is provided?

As long as your review was honest, you did nothing wrong. You have every right (and a borderline responsibility) to tell people about your experience.

There is a confusion over the ´from´ field on profiles. When you fill it out, it asks you where you live; then it appears on the profile as where you are from. These two things are not necessarily the same place!!! The seller could be living in Germany (and therefore, his profile says Germany) but originally from another country. I have this same problem too - do I write Brazil, since that´s where I live and what time zone I work in, or Australia, since that´s where I´m from?
