Embarrassed by Buyer Requests

I’m an observant person and I’m also cynical, but I’ve been knocked down a peg by ASSUMING that there would be some semblance of logic when searching buyer requests. Enter search term, scroll, submit. Repeat. How could that be screwy? Sheesh, what a maroon.

Today I was feeling proactive about getting some new orders, so I was considering some of the less ideal requests, that’s when I noticed there is no sort order and that some of the requests are YEARS old.

I’ve decided to embrace my temporary naivete by pretending that I will be able to quit my day job by April 1 and live solely from my huge Fiverr earnings. Huzzah! I’ll also be expecting my neighbor to fix their downspout that’s been draining into my yard for 4 years. It’s gonna be a great couple of weeks!

Can you tell that my humor is a thin veil to cover my growing frustration?!? 🙂 I really don’t care that much, but a simple date order should be stinking obvious.

Reply to @kay2809: I thought I’d give it a try, since it’s supposed to be all ‘new & improved’. I won’t be bothering again. But still, it gave me an excuse to type “huzzah” in the forum.

Reply to @kay2809: It is cool that a seller can include an explainer message and add extras now, but that also makes it just as complicated as regular messaging and sales-pitching.

And it also seems like the buyers that use it are the ones who expect to pay pennies for huge amounts of work. I guess they figure they’ll take advantage of the most desperate sellers.

Reply to @kay2809: I’m actually self-employed as well, but I have some regular jobs that I do at particular times.

Just wondering. Do you realize that you spend almost as much time teasing me about being on the forum as I actually spend on the forum?

There are more options of what gigs to offer - presumably they broadened out to main cats instead of subs, but it’s still limited by the category the buyer selected. If a buyer thinks of copywriting as online marketing, there’s still only the option of changing the gig just to submit.

There really isn’t a better option though… if sellers could submit any gig, the spam-fest would kill the servers.

Reply to @itsyourthing: I suspect this is why we can’t send buyers messages either. I’ve seen a few fairly specialised gig requests come up that I wanted to drop the buyer a message to say ‘hey don’t have a gig for that but that’s definitely something I can do’ but of course, only sellers deserve the frequently hilarious Fiverr spam.

Buyer requests really is dire, it’s turning into seller offers and presumably, there’s no option for a buyer to mark their request as complete when they’ve found someone either. I think purging all the requests over a month old would definitely help.
