Opening and Closing Hours Option

Hello there Sellers, Please read the following and comment to suit. Please ignore any laden typos, or grammatical errors, running on low fuel.

Now, we are all from various parts of the world, and therefore all the time zones will vary.

I honestly believe we as sellers should have an OPEN till option. If one wants to work 9am - 9pm or even have strictly a 24hr service, they get to choose!

Many times i am up working into the earlier part of the morning, running on only 2-3hours sleep from the night before, fighting to make deadlines, that sadly i’m missing, because orders just keep popping up; most at 1Day rush or i have fallen asleep in front my laptop. I do ensure i deliver, but i truly don’t want to have to take a vacation, every time i’m burnt out.

I believe this method of allowing us to devote a certain amount of time to Fiverr that WE choose, would help to keep some sellers:

  • Well rested
  • Not grumpy (Ready to burst into Hulk mode every time we get a hell spawn buyer)
  • Able to take on more and produce more
  • Keeps one sanity
  • Boosts patience.
  • Allows one to have proper work/time management

Now even though, one’s main gig option will say closed, there should be another option allowing the buyer to still order and leave the gig details, and when the Sellers hours are activated, the order is to! [Day rush or normal submission]

Let me know what you guys think of this!!

    🙂

I would like to get orders even when I am asleep so I would probably set my hours to 24 hours a day. I don’t think people would place orders if my sign said “closed”.

I respond to emails from about 6am to 10pm in my time zone. I work 3-6 hours a day on Fiverr jobs. I maintain a 2 hour response and this has worked well working with people all over the world. They can look at your profile and see where you are from. If the orders are overwhelming, extend your delivery times to adjust. There has been times when I felt like my gigs ran me. I am slowly getting to where I run them and take breaks when I need to.

While I don’t mind waking up to orders, it’s pretty unfair that my response rate has to suffer just because I’m asleep. I normally answer within minutes, even when I’m out. My idea was not so much to be “closed” (people should be able to contact me when it’s convenient for them) but rather, I suggest a system where:

1-There is a variable way of setting our turn around times based on our schedule. For example, let’s say you are only working weekends to supplement your income, and can do work the same day no problem, but during the week you’ll need several days because you have your day job. Our gig time should change according to the days we set. (I’m always worried someone will order one of my rush gigs on the one day I’m off, while I’m asleep or already out, but I don’t want to get rid of it, as I’m okay with it 99% of the week.)

2- Implement automated responses during designated times – even if they want to limit this to an eight hour window a day to avoid abusing the system, because like you said, we’re all on different schedules.

3- Another option, get rid of this vacation day limit. We’re not employees of Fiverr, why is there a limit at all? And they should allow us to set days off ahead of time, whether it be the same every week or a designated time we know we’ll be on vacation. Yea, I know I can just click it whenever, but come on, we have the technology lol. Once in vacation mode, again, you should be able to set an automated response letting people know when you’ll be back and if it’s not urgent they can still order.

My response rate is 3-hours, and I do sleep. Don’t worry so much about your response rate, some sellers have a response rate of 11-hours and they’re still getting a ton of orders.

I love getting orders while I sleep, it’s the best thing in the world. You wake up and there’s money waiting for you. Where else but online can that happen?

However, if you insist on letting buyers know your hours, just tell them that you’re in front of the computer from 6pm-9pm Eastern Time, or whatever time zone you’re in. Maybe it will work for you.

Wow that would be nice if sellers could do that but then again putting the time on your profile when you are working is a great idea but, buyers I think don’t pay much attention to that because they will still order, just like if you put on your description to message the seller before ordering.

Reply to @julipalmer7: Oh my gosh YES!! As of lately i have had few that actually messaged to see my availability. Most just order away and slap on a Day rush! But eventually things will change. The system has changed quite a bit since so I’m hoping to see more improvements!

I think it would be great if the vacation mode offered something other than days. Sometimes I need a few hours off so that I’m not having to worry about checking messages and responding quickly.

Just being able to post: Unavailable and a time slot of when I plan to return would be awesome. There are voice over sites that allow a check out feature.

Isn’t this what vacation mode is for? I personally wouldn’t consider this unless I was crazily busy 24/7, but potentially what Candice brought up about how if people message you when you’re asleep that it can affect your response time. I’m unsure how it works completely as I’ve managed to keep mine at an hour, even if I’m asleep and reply 6 hours later (I think it’s based on averages, so if you’ve replied to 20 people within an hour, that’ll outweigh the 6 hour reply?), Anyway, the idea of having an 8 hour window that you can set where when you’re sleeping, if anyone does message you, it doesn’t affect your rating.
