How do I change translation language?

I offer translations from French to English. I see that on the “My Gigs” page under each Gig there’s now “+add translation”. I think “Wow, cool! I could offer my translation services to French people in French! Sounds like a good idea.” So I click on the link. And I get

“Before you continue, make sure you are fluent in the language you are translating to, otherwise your translated Gig will be denied.
I’m translating to Spanish.”

No option to change the language, just an “OK” button. What’s up with that? Maybe I’m missing something, but I don’t see much use in targeting Spanish speakers for a French to English translation gig. Has anyone managed to enter a French translation to their gig?

Aidez-moi, s’il vous plaît!

Hi Eddie,

Thanks for your input. No, I want to be able to post a description of my Gig in French. I figured that was what the “+add translation” on the “My Gigs” page was meant to do. I assume that since it takes you to a page that asks you for all the Gig information over again, it creates a brand new Gig, only in the target language you choose. Perhaps I’m wrong, but I didn’t follow through because it only lets me enter info in Spanish. Which is kind of pointless for a French to English translation Gig.

I assume people in France default to Fiverr in French - here in Mexico it defaults to Spanish when I visit the site and I’m not logged in, so I figure Fiverr must choose the display language based on your ISP address.

I assumed that by doing the “+add translation”, I’d could enter a Gig, in French, that search would understand was in French. That way, if a French-speaking person in France comes to Fiverr and searches for French keywords, like “traduction français anglais” for example, then they would see my Gig, and that of anyone else with a Gig in the French language, which judging from what comes up when you click on the link below, is no one.

All the Gigs are in English. However, if I change the display language to Spanish and go here

https://es.fiverr.com/categoria/escribir-y-traduccion/traduccion

All the Gigs are in Spanish. Now, do I only see that because I’m in Mexico or does everyone else see the same thing? And it would be great to hear from someone in France to find out what they’re seeing.

I wish I had an answer to your question but I’m also having the same problem as you. As a user based in the U.S. with English as the default UI language, I’m also trying to add a translation of some of my gigs into Spanish, Portuguese, and French, but Fiverr only lets me add a Spanish translation. It’s frustrating and I haven’t found any solutions yet.
