Has anyone had an inbox conversation marked as reported but you did not report it?

This is just weird. I had a message from a potential buyer a few days ago but I did not understand their complex request. I told them that politely and asked them to try again. Some time later they replied that the job had changed and now they wanted something different and very fast. It was something I could do, but not on their deadline. I politely declined and wished them well, figuring that would be the end of it.

Yesterday the wrote back in the same thread with a slightly different request and a slightly passive-aggressive approach, stating that they wanted a quote for lots of work over a long time period, but that once I gave them a price and turnaround, I would be stuck with it for all future jobs. I replied that my delivery times and prices are subject to change after jobs were completed. Sometime early this morning when I wasn’t awake, they replied again with a totally different request and demanding fast delivery. I read the message and noticed a warning at the bottom saying it had been reported and telling me I could basically “unspam” it by clicking a link. The thing is, I never reported the messages.

They were irritating and sounded fishy, but I never deliberately clicked report. Can that happen if lots of other people report the user for spam? The only other thing I could think of is that maybe I tapped report on my touchscreen without realizing it, but wouldn’t it ask you to confirm? I’m just trying to figure it out since I don’t know what happened.

You are responding on an old post from 2014. Now that I know more about the system, I am pretty sure I know what happened. I think that the user had been hassling other people too. I think that they probably got reported for spam or an abuse by someone else and Fiverr took away their messaging privileges. Take it as a good thing since these are the kind of buyers you want. 🙂
