Messaging a buyer

HI Everyone. This is a new one for me. I fell ill and forgot to inactivate myself. Meanwhile someone ordered a gig. and of course the deadline passed and it was cancelled. No worries. However, I would like to message the buyer with an explanation but since I never messaged while it was active I cannot find how to message them now. Anyone help me? Much appreciated
