How do I use my free gig?

My friend referred to me to fiverr and when I registered, I got this “Free Gig” button on the top bar. But when I ordered my first gig today, the button is still there, I had to pay using PayPal to place the order. Why is that? Do I have t order a gig from the ones they suggest in order to get it for free?
