Question

I am new to Fiverr. I created my account about 48 hours ago. In the past 24 hours, I have received about twelve messages, all from scammers, all asking the same thing: Can you give me your email so I can put the order through?

I did bite on the first one. They sent a screenshot of a fake Fiverr form with the logo and all, and I thought, well, my email is publicly visible on other websites so surely it's all right.

After I got another similar message (and then another, and another), I cottoned on and began reporting them.

I've changed my password and put on two-step verification. Is that about all I can do? I am reluctant to change my email, only because I already have several emails for different purposes and I do not want to have to keep track of another.

This is extremely frustrating. I haven't gotten a single legitimate message, but I have been inundated by these scammers requesting my email. Already my response rate has dropped from 100% because I deleted several of the messages immediately without responding to them or reporting them. I know I should have reported them all, but there were so many. If I do ever get a legitimate message it may well get buried under the chaff.

Fiverr could easily solve this problem by installing an AI-powered filter that checks messages for words relating to 'inbox' or 'email'.

Well, they've got my email and they've since attempted to phish me, as seen below. Were it not for the Russian email domain, the bizarre English, and the fact that I've yet to receive a single genuine order, I'd have quite easily fallen for it. If I weren't a native speaker I'd've been completely cooked. I reckon I'll just have to suck it up and change my email because they are super convincing, and I don't want to have to now comb through every genuine email I get from Fiverr.

Today I've received several more scam messages requesting my email. They've got about four identical formulas. It should not be at all hard for Fiverr to filter these out. And I still have not received a single genuine message. Ridiculous.
