As a freelancer from a time zone different from the USA and Europe, I often face a major challenge: missing out on projects because clients message me between 12:00 AM and 4:00 AM my time.

In the translation field, it’s rare to find clients who wait for your response. About 90% of clients expect a reply within 30 minutes. Randomly counting, I miss up to 5 projects a week simply because I see their messages in the morning. By then, I often hear back that the job is already done with another seller.

To add to this, I only get about 1 project a month from clients messaging me during the day. The rest are from my repeat clients who are already aware of the time difference and are kind enough to wait for my response.

What would you suggest to address this issue? I’d love to hear how others in similar situations are handling this.

Well I can say that's the beauty of freelancing lol. In the freelancing world, there is no fix time for anything else and it's up to you that how will you manage / tackle these type of situations. If your buyers are messaging you during your night time, then change your schedule like stay up during those hours if you are not doing any job or anything else..

Usually I don't work between 12am - 6am and I always tell my new/repeat buyers that the task will be done in the morning (my time) and they happily accept it. In between if I get any new message, then I reply them via Fiverr App whenever my android vibrates..

Don't you have a Fiverr App?

And I have also been thinking about this, let's wait for the experts.

@Kesha

@smartdezigns shared some wonderful advice! It's truly just part of the journey. Besides setting up an auto-reply to let clients know you’ll get back to them soon, or being available when they are, there's really not much more that can be done if a client chooses to go with someone who responds instantly.

Use Fiverr App with a good sound of notification and vibration.

Are you suggesting sellers sleep with their phones so they can reply to buyers quickly no matter what the time of day or night?

Mine hasn't been letting me know about messages lately, so, there's that.

When that happens, I still get notices through email, which is reassuring.

I had the same issue earlier but when I checked the Playstore (Google's), it was needed to be update. Update the app if you haven't..

A lot of people do that I believe.

Ages back, I remember reading a post of a seasoned seller on the forum that he used to keep a separate laptop switched on 24X7 for Fiverr. Website was always open on the browser and he had a big set of speakers connected to it. So anytime a text or notification would pop up, his entire house would know. 🫠🙄

Meaning while you sleep, if your phone vibrates you will wake up and answer the customer, then go back to sleep?

It rarely happens that I receive mesages late night. Usually I get orders late night too. But if I do receive messages, I will check it after 5am not before that..

I just got back to Fiverr so I'm still very excited. I usually wake up 2-3 times a night and I check my messages to reply to clients if I get a message. Haha. Why doesn't Fiverr add a time zone setting feature for auto reply messages. Let's say I want to auto reply to customers between 1am-5am 🙂

Simply, why don't you use the feature of "Set Auto-Reply"?

You might consider buying a new phone 🙂

Why, when Fiverr's known for having far more bugs than an iPhone? The notifications also weren't coming through via PC browser, and new messages weren't showing up when I'd refresh the tab on my inbox. It took me navigating away to another page for a notification to appear, 12 hours after a message was sent, for instance.
