Should i work for really really cheap price just to get my gig ranked?

Question

Posted

Hello everyone,

I am a new seller since Nov 2023. And have got just 4 orders. I work in the website maintenance category (WordPress) by the way. Yesterday night a buyer texted me saying he got his websites hacked. So I checked his websites and one was badly infected with Japanese seo spam hack. And asked him his budget. His budget was 5$ for all of his websites issues. So I said I can't do it for 5$ and I charge 15$ per websites. Then he said the highest he can pay is 10$ for all of his issues. It would take 5-6 hours to fix all of his websites so I said no. Other sellers charge way more than i charge in this category. Now i am regretting. Should I have taken the order just for 10$ ? So that my gig would rank.

Thank you.

You might be right, but i think as a newbie, he should have got the order only to increase the sales and make the customers for future. As having only few orders/ reviews after being on Fiverr since long, his gigs show up on last page in search results. But now after getting fresh order, he would have been active again. This was my point of view sir but being the senior you are right.

Hi there,

As per my experience, when a buyer is asking for a service at a low price and arguing about the price, sometimes it is not a good one. Like, he/she may add more tasks for free after order placement. If you do not agree, the buyer will ask to cancel the order. Sometimes, ask for multiple revisions even though everything is fine and already explained. So, we should handle those situations with extra care.

Secondly, regarding the price, as per my opinion, it should be reasonable, not too high or low. Sometimes I consider accepting the low-budget project when I do not have much work pressure, and I take it like something is better than nothing. Maybe that buyer has a trust issue and can order a reasonable price next time. We cannot pre-assume anything so easily about someone. 🙂

I just shared a thought that I think you might find useful. All the best!
