Ahh, the new year!

Who doesn’t love a new start, with new opportunities to crush new goals?

While kicking off the year full of fresh ambitions is lovely, it’s also essential not to neglect the fact that sometimes reaching new heights requires a willingness to try new things.

As you establish your freelancing plans for 2025, a great place to start is by auditing your current approach. This will help you discover any areas you want to adjust to achieve the best results possible.

While it could be helpful to audit all aspects of your gigs and profile, before you start a complete overhaul of your account, here are the top three key areas, I would recommend starting with:

Review your keywords

  • Are the keywords you’re currently using performing well?
  • Are buyers actively searching for gigs like yours?
  • Could there be more relevant keywords to use?

Take advantage of tools like Top Keywords or the Seller Plus exclusive Keyword Research feature to review your current approach and see if it may be time to update your titles and tags based on performance and market trends. Plus, who knows, you might even be inspired to start a new niche gig based on your findings!

Update your Gig Video or Image

Have you been meaning to create a gig video yet you kept putting it off? Why not use the fresh New Year motivation to finally cross that off your to-do list? Gig videos, as you may know, are an excellent way to stand out from the competition and wow potential clients with your unique personality.

Don’t worry if you’re not ready to debut in a gig video yet–images and graphics can still be a powerful way to boost clicks. In any case, you want to review your visuals to ensure they’re up-to-date and compelling. For example, if your gig images contain samples of your work, consider updating them to include your most recent deliveries that can show off your improved skills.

Other edits you may consider include, simplifying any overly complex designs for clarity, including an image of yourself to add familiarity, or reshooting an existing video in higher quality if needed. Check out this article for more tips on mastering the perfect gig visuals.

Pricing

When was the last time you updated your pricing? If you haven’t done so recently, now may be a great time to adjust based on your goals.

  • If you started with lower prices to attract orders but have since gained confidence and skills, consider raising your rates.
  • If your operating or living costs have increased, increasing your prices can help maintain or improve your profit margins.
  • On the flip side, if you’re not getting enough clicks or conversions, lowering your prices temporarily could be a great tactic to help attract more customers.

All in all, if you’re serious about crushing your freelancing goals in the new year, don’t just leave it by chance. Be strategic and thoughtful in your approach, remembering that just because something worked last year, doesn’t mean it’s the best way to do it this year. Take time to review your profile in these three key areas, make adjustments as needed, and before you know it, you’ll be well-positioned for success in 2025!
